Bourne, United Kingdom People Plus Independent Living Services Full time

**Personal Care Assistant**:
**Bourne, South Lincolnshire (PE10)**:
**About the Service User**:
Keri is a female in her late 30s who lives in Bourne with her husband and 2 very loved cats.

Keri has a range of complex medical issues which include severe heart disease and heart failure, Graves and Autism. Keri’s energy levels vary greatly & she will need a lot of rest. Sometimes she’ll be well enough to help prepare a meal with you or have a chat, at other times, she struggles and needs to spend a lot of time in bed or need to use her wheelchair to get around.

Keri is a generally positive, happy person who enjoys learning everything from differences in cultures to Tudor history & everything else in-between. Keri has a range of hobbies and interests include genealogy, she loves to cook, and her carers support her with this. Keri also loves history, crafts & reading. Sometimes Keri will need quiet time as her Autism can cause over stimulation, she is especially sensitive to strong aromas (perfumes cleaners etc) as these can start migraines.

There is a stair lift & other mobility aids in place in the house to assist.

**Hours and Rate of Pay**:
Keri has 2 regular carers but we need now an additional flexible person to join the team.

The shifts will vary on alternate weeks ie - One day a week, Tuesdays - One week& two days Tues & Fridays
- on the alternate week - recurring.

The hours are 10am - 5.30pm. The rate of pay to start is £10.20 per hour for a 3-6 month probational period. There will be a rise to £10.70 per hour after this.

**What you would be doing**:
Provide support with personal care and companionship.

Handle household chores such as help with laundry, cooking and cleaning and feeding her cats.

Dispensing medication & reminding her to take it on time & reminding her to eat, her Autism means she has a habit of forgetting these.

Drive Keri to any appointments and run errands - you must be happy to drive her automatic car & you must have a clean driving licence.

**The person I would like**:
Keri is seeking a compassionate, adaptable and fun individual to help her while her husband is at work. Due to her medical issues, her energy and ability to be self-sufficient can vary a lot. This person would need to be comfortable to help with toileting, showering, dressing etc.

We are seeking a person who is upbeat, calm in a crisis, supportive and who shows initiative. Keri cannot always think clearly due to tiredness &/or brain fog. This person should also be intuitive to emotional cues.

We would need the person appointed to be available to offer cover for when holiday or sickness arises re the other carers. Keri’s carers tend to work as a team, trying to forward plan and cover each other

**_An enhance DBS check will be required._
