**Job Title**:Goods Inwards / Despatch Operative (Aerospace/ Manufacturing)

**Location**:India Mill, Darwen

**Salary**: £10.75 - £11.50 per hour

**Job type**: Permanent**, 4-day week** Monday to Thursday 07:15 am to 5:00 pm totalling 37 hours weekly.

We are approved and certified for JOSCAR, AS 9100 and NADCAP certificated and are approved Tier 1 and 2 suppliers to the Aerospace and Defence manufacturers in the UK and internationally, such as Airbus, BAE, MBDA, Rolls Royce, Safran and Spirit.

**The role**:
We are looking for a Goods Inwards / Despatch Operator with at least three years of working experience within an aerospace/manufacturing environment.

You would be part of the small team of goods in/despatch operators. The workload within the department shifts throughout the month and the time spent within each area will shift accordingly.

The purpose of the role is to handle and confirm that incoming goods comply with relevant specifications, locate them correctly and record the transactions in the ERP system. In addition, the role will also be responsible for packaging and shipping finished goods direct to customers.

**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:

- Provide an efficient and courteous first point of contact for all delivery personnel, third-party couriers, and customer collection vehicles.
- Unload vehicles and receive purchased, subcontract and customer-own products in a safe manner whilst guaranteeing the product is handled appropriately.
- Confirm goods received to meet the purchasing specification/requirements, including documentary inspection (e.g., Certificates of Conformity).
- Ensure that goods received are identified accurately and recorded in the Company's stock system (ERP).
- Deliver goods received efficiently to the relevant departments throughout the company.
- Ensure the goods in/holding area are kept safe, secure, clean, and organised and, where applicable, in line with company 'best practice'.
- Alert departments upon receipt of urgent supplies or reagent deliveries, especially when they need to be refrigerated upon receipt.
- As directed, securely package and identify goods for shipment to customers.
- Undertake transactions to generate the necessary packing lists, shipment paperwork and invoices for goods out.
- Follow the defined processes to ensure the effective Health, Safety and Environmental best practices as defined by the Brookhouse Aerospace HSE Management System.
- Numerate - Good standard of English Language in reading and writing (Essential)
- MRP/ERP system experience - data inputting (Epicor - Desirable)
- Attention to detail - required when carrying out transactions.
- Analytical and displays sound judgement
- Well organised, with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work on own initiative and display problem-solving techniques.
- Flexibility in terms of both changing roles within the day/week but also working hours to support changing workloads
