**About the role**
32.5 hours per week, term time, fixed term for 1 year
Briar Hill Primary School & Nursery are looking for someone who is passionate about making a positive change to children’s lives by supporting children to have effective learning. We are looking for someone who shares our belief that all children learn best while having fun, and who is committed to working as part of a team in this dynamic learning environment.
Role includes:
Support teachers to manage a caring, encouraging, purposeful and stimulating environment conducive to children’s learning
Work with the class teachers in the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate in cover classes.
Have a good awareness of early reading, demonstrate a clear understanding of appropriate teaching strategies e.g. systematic synthetic phonics.
Demonstrate an understanding of and take responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy including the correct use of spoken English
Make accurate and productive use of assessment to secure pupils’ progress.
Provide effective feedback and enable pupils to develop positive attitudes to learning
To use a range of appropriate strategies and follow Academy policies for teaching, behaviour management and classroom management.
Organise and manage groups or individual pupils ensuring adaptations of learning needs, reflecting all abilities.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to be a teacher in the future to gain experience.
- To undertake specified timetabled covering teaching duties as agreed with SLT on a planned or ad-hoc basis.
- To work collaboratively with teaching team and the rest of the team.
- To provide support for pupils in order to raise standards of achievement for all pupils (e.g. SEN, EAL, all underachieving groups),

**Who we are looking for**

- GCSE Qualifications at grades 4 or above (A* to C) including English and Maths
- Experience of working with children
- Skills and expertise in understanding the needs of all pupils
- Experience of planning and leading teaching and learning activities.
- Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children.
