**Salary**: £13.00 - £14.01 per hour

Days Required: Flexible

36 hours per week (overtime available)

Contract Type: Full time. We are advertising for day staff and night staff, should you wish to do overtime for either day or night this is welcome.

Hi, my name is Neil I’m a young man in my 40s with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I have complex care needs; I breathe through a tracheostomy and require the use of a ventilator 24/7. I have very limited mobility and I am confined to an electric wheelchair, requiring full assistance. I require care by a team of Personal Care Assistants who work on a 2-to-1 basis to support me. I live at home with my mother.

This is an exciting opportunity for a friendly, reliable, and a compassionate individual who is passionate about care work and eager to provide full support in my daily life in an informal, relaxed home environment. Although you are always expected to be professional, you will be working in a casual setting which can be fun and have many rewarding social aspects. I’m looking for someone caring and understanding who is not afraid to take on commitment and responsibility of helping to maintain my health and wellbeing, as well as this being a part of a great team.

Typical duties will include helping my daily personal care, medical, admin, domestic and social support tasks, to enable me to live as independently as possible. Experience is not necessary as comprehensive training will be provided to enable you to safely and competently carry out all the duties of this role.

As part of the team, you'll have the chance to explore new places. I love it when my PA’s comes up with ideas to try new things. I am quite keen on going to concerts, festivals, etc. I also really enjoy watching tv and movies (especially Marvel), listening to a wide range of music, playing computer games and reading. I’m a huge Formula 1 fan too and make use of a lot of technology and gadgets. You will get the opportunity to accompany me whenever I go out for the day including, holidays, or social activities, such as shopping, visits to the cinema, concerts and formula 1.

To give you an idea, this year I’ve had the great chance of visiting places like Longleat, Marwell zoo and a fat boy slim concert. Upcoming I’ve got Goodwood and Comicon

Day shifts will typically start at 8.00am and finish at 8.00pm, whilst night shifts will start at 8.00pm and finish at 8.00am but these can vary occasionally depending on what I am doing in a given day.

Pay is £13.00 - £14.01 per hour for day shifts (£14.01 per hour after completing training)

Emergency Rate last minute shifts can be available at £20 per hour.

You must be eligible to work in the UK, be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check and provide references. Interviews will be carried out online via video messaging. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. A valid UK driving license for day staff is essential.
