College Information

The College is located across two primary sites but the majority of your delivery will be supported online, through asynchronous study. You will be allocated a college academic mentor for the duration of your programme who will work with both you and your line manager to identify opportunities for growth and development and you will also attend a series of workshops to support knowledge development in business administration.

**Apprentice Salary**:
**1styear - all ages**: £9,405 per annum - £4.81 per hour

Age related after 1st year, if applicable

**Age 18 - 20**: £13,355 per annum - £6.83 per hour

**Age 21 - 22**: £17,950 per annum - £9.18 per hour

As part of the apprenticeship you will support the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust; specifically providing an attentive and welcoming customer service experience based on reception at Musgrove Park Academy, Musgrove Park Hospital.

The apprentice will signpost/ deal with day-to-day student and clinician queries in relation to the undergraduate and postgraduate medical training programmes.

The apprentice will become an integral part of the Medical Education Team and learn about all aspects of Medical Education to support the provision of high-quality teaching facilities housed in Musgrove Park Academy.

The apprentice will form part of the unlocking and locking rota of the Academy - please note this will include room and IT set up.

**Working Hours**: (including half hour lunchbreak - 7.5 working hours per day)

**Week 1**: 0800 - 1600

**Week 2**: 0930 - 1730

Administration services including phone duties, typing, scanning, filing, booking system, managing incoming and outgoing mail, manage and receive telephone calls and messages, ensuring effective communication and courtesy at all times.

This is a fixed term contract for 14 months, the role will include training on all aspects of medical education gaining valuable work experience in Administration and Customer Service, obtaining NHS knowledge & experience and a Level 2 qualification.

The Medical Education Team, based on the Musgrove Park Hospital Site of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust supports the Education and Training for Postgraduate Doctors in Training, Locally Employed Doctors and their trainers, together with supporting placements for medical students linked to the University of Bristol Medical School and Peninsula Medical School, Plymouth University and other medical allied professions.

To receive users of the Academy in a courteous manner, directing visitors as appropriate, whilst provide excellent customer service.

Log issues to Trust IT and Estates ensuring the smooth running of learning and education facilities based in Musgrove Park Academy

Access to the Musgrove Park Academy Room booking system to facilitate the smooth running of the educational facilities based within the Academy.

Assist the Medical Education team to ensure that learning events take place as planned by contacting speakers, delegates and other stakeholders as required.

Staff the Learning and Education Services at Musgrove Park Academy, Musgrove Park Hospital within agreed time to ensure the staffed hours schedule is maintained. Form part of a rota taking responsibility for unlocking and locking Musgrove Park Academy teaching facilities, in line with established processes.

Support trainers, lecturers, teaching fellows and users of Musgrove Park Academy with the use of audio-visual equipment and clinical teaching models.

Setting up training equipment and altering room layout requirements in line with the teaching programmes, inductions and learning events held within Musgrove Park Academy.

Support the Medical Education Team with updating information on the Medical Education Intranet Pages.
