We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Regional Speech and Language Therapist to join our team and support the therapeutic needs of our students across multiple school locations.
**Job Overview**:
As a Regional Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, planning, and delivering Speech and Language therapy services for students with diverse needs in a group of independent special schools. You will work closely with the Regional SENDCo and educational team, families, and external professionals to promote student success, independence, and well-being. This role requires travel across the designated region to provide direct therapy and consultation services at each school site.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Assessment & Intervention:_
- Conduct thorough assessments of speech, language, and communication needs for students across the region.
- Design and implement effective, evidence-based intervention plans to support students with varying communication difficulties.
- Work closely with the SENDCo and school staff to monitor and track student progress, adapting strategies as necessary.
- Collaboration & Teamwork:_
- Provide expert advice and guidance to school staff, teaching assistants, and other professionals on effective communication strategies for students with SEND.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including educational psychologists, occupational therapists, and social workers, to develop holistic support plans for students.
- Deliver training and workshops to school staff on speech and language development, communication strategies, and supporting students with speech and language challenges.
- Case Management & Reporting:_
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and outcomes for each student.
- Provide detailed reports and updates for the SENDCo, school leadership teams, and external agencies when required.
- Contribute to the creation and review of Individual Education Plans (ILPs) and other support documentation.
- Parent & Carer Support:_
- Offer advice and support to parents and carers, empowering them with strategies to support their child's speech and language development at home.
- Organize and lead parent workshops and meetings to ensure a holistic approach to speech and language support.
- Continuous Professional Development:
- Stay current with best practices, new research, and developments in speech and language therapy, especially in relation to SEND.
- Participate in regional team meetings, CPD sessions, and wider educational initiatives to ensure high-quality provision for all students.
**Key Skills & Experience**
- Qualifications:_
- A recognized and relevant qualification in Speech and Language Therapy (e.g., BSc/MSc in Speech and Language Therapy, HCPC registered).
- Additional training or qualifications in SEND or working with children and young people with complex needs would be desirable.
- Experience:_
- Proven experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist in a school or educational setting, preferably with children who have special educational needs.
- Experience working collaboratively with educational professionals and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience of developing and delivering tailored interventions and supporting students with a wide range of speech, language, and communication difficulties.
- Skills & Knowledge:_
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices in speech and language therapy, especially in relation to SEND.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, staff, and external professionals.
- A compassionate and student-centered approach, with the ability to build positive relationships and tailor support to meet individual needs.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
