Retail Customer Assistant (Part-Time, FTC) - Haywards Heath, Sussex - Overview - Royal Voluntary Service hospital cafés, shops and trolleys are part of the fabric of the NHS and a real asset in their own right. Our customers love the fact that the money they spend with us pays for volunteer action in hospitals and the community. - The Role - Working alongside a friendly team, you will participate in the day-to-day running of our shop and coffee bar in Princess Royal Hospital. - In this role, you will be responsible for: - Providing friendly, helpful and efficient customer service at all times - Operating the till and undertaking cash reconciliation as required - Complying with associated statutory standards policies and procedures e.g. Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Data Protection, Financial controls and other operating policies and procedures - Receiving incoming deliveries, distribute, maintain and date rotate stock as appropriate - Assisting in the accurate completion of regular stock checks - Assisting in the day-to-day co-ordination of the provision of volunteers to meet the operational requirements - "Stepping up" to fill the role of Senior Service Assistant when required due to leave or absence Working Hours - This is a part-time role working 24 hours per week, over four shifts between 8am and 6:30pm for a fixed-term, three-month contract. - Our retail sites can be open on weekends and bank holidays. There may also be opportunities for paid overtime in busy periods or to cover absence. - What you’ll need - Working in a hospital requires a special kind of customer service. Your ability to communicate with a variety of people in a friendly and cheerful way will make a real difference to someone’s day.
