**About the post**:
Reporting to the Principal Communication and Engagement Specialist, this role requires a creative-minded copywriter with a passion for delivering consistently high-quality communications which can win over hearts and minds. You will be working with a team of communications, engagement, design and digital specialists, creating content for a variety of clients, as well as our own organisation. As such, content creation will be varied across numerous disciplines. Your role will be to engage the reader, tell great stories, and motivate people into taking the desired action. You will produce narrative and copy for webpages, press releases, brochures, newsletters, scripting, case studies, advertorials, adverts, presentation slides, strategies and social media amongst others.

The work may involve the handling of highly sensitive information, and confidentiality must be observed at all times. The postholder will have the following attributes and qualities:

- Proven experience and capability as a successful creative writer/copywriter, writing for a range of different media and channels
- Ability to create (often at pace) consistently high-quality content and materials which achieve the desired impact
- English language skills which are second to none
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills
- An eye for detail, with high standards and a focus on getting things right first time
- Ability to tailor tone, style and approach to suit different channels and audiences
- Political acumen and emotional intelligence, able to recognise potential sensitivities and work around these
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be professional at all times
- Effective organisational skills and capable of managing multiple tasks at the same time
- The ability to stay calm under pressure and work flexibly within an ever-changing environment
- Good IT Skills and conversance with Office 365 packages (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- The ability to work as an effective team player, as well as under own initiative
- A positive, ‘can do’ attitude with the eagerness to learn, explore and improve

**Core duties**:
Carry out project scoping and create a clear brief, liaising with colleagues and clients from concept through to creation

Write for a variety of media and channels, tailoring content and style of individual writing assignments according to their purpose and the needs of the audience. Examples are listed above.

Plan and conduct effective research to identify behavioural drivers, needs and preferences which inform the approach, tone and style to be adopted, and respond accordingly

Initiate interviews, discussions and research to eke out key information with which to tell stories accurately, effectively, and in a way that drives behavioural change and wins hearts and minds

Work with our design team to ensure the visual elements of your projects complement the words you have created

Evaluate the effectiveness of your work and the impact it has made, working with other team members as necessary to gain relevant insight

Continually explore and identify fresh and interesting angles for your work

Develop content for social media campaigns and ensure ongoing social media presence for clients and our own organisation

Initiate and innovate activities to market and develop our organisation, working with team colleagues to generate regular, great content, e.g. for social media posts, to promote what we do

Assist with business pitches to win new clients or projects

Collaborate with team members, clients, designers, MIH associates and third parties to design, manage and deliver projects of all shapes and sizes
