**Internal Auditor**

**Midlands/ Northern England**

An opportunity has arisen for an Internal Auditor to join the team at Galliford Try.

Ideally, you will be based in or around the Midlands and will have opportunity to work in a hybrid manner with home working and travel to Sites when required.

**What you will be doing**:
The Internal Audit department provides a risk based internal audit service to the Galliford Try group. The service is predominantly delivered in two parts. The first is audits of key controls in individual business units (each visited once every two years) covering the typical project lifecycle including business development, bidding, commercial, finance, design management, construction and HR. The second is Companywide process audits of areas assessed as being of high inherent and/ or residual risk.

The department reports routinely to the Audit Committee of the Board and is resourced through a small team of permanent staff. The team are engaged on a variety of cross group process reviews and key control reviews in the business units.

Auditing is carried out in line with the annual audit plan to enable an annual opinion on the effectiveness of internal controls.

The role of the Internal Auditor, reporting to the Audit Manager, is to engage with the business to deliver the work of the Internal Audit department in a professional manner. The Internal Auditor will also act as a colleague with other members of the department.

**You Will**:

- Prepare and execute audits, including participating and leading meetings, performing testing, evaluating evidence and writing up testing.
- Identify potential findings and agree their factual accuracy and potential impact with auditees.
- Formulate and agree action plans, including their importance and timeframes, with auditees.
- Follow up on the implementation of agreed actions.Facilitate business unit risk reviews

**About You**:

- Knowledge of the construction sector is beneficial, but not a requirement.
- Their written outputs will be of a high standard.
- The role will involve communication at all levels of the Group so well-developed interpersonal skills are required including being able to deliver difficult messages and to agree action plans.
- Effective time management and planning.
- The role is home-based with access to a local office if preferred.

The role will operate throughout the Group and will involve some travelling (up to 20% UK travel). There is flexibility in where the role is based, but preferably in the Midlands or Northern England.
