CHD Living services are looking for a full time, enthusiastic and motivated individual to become an Assistant Psychologist to work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team for inpatient neurological rehabilitation services based in Kingston-upon-Thames and Bagshot, Surrey.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team to develop your skills in rehabilitation. You will work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team for inpatient neurological rehabilitation services.
At CHD we deliver comprehensive rehabilitation and reablement packages which include nursing care, intensive therapy packages and short stay reablement. This is an opportunity to work with a diverse caseload in a fast-paced environment, supporting people to achieve their goals and to get home safely.
**What you will do**:
The assistant psychologist under the supervision of a chartered clinical psychologist plays an important role in supporting the service to undertake neuropsychological and psychological assessment and provide structured psychological and cognitive rehabilitation to manage emotional, behavioural and cognitive consequences of neurological damage.
Your caseload will be supervised by the Clinical Psychologist in Neuropsychology and you will receive regular clinical and managerial supervision. You will work independently according to a plan agreed with the supervising psychologist and therapy team lead, within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
You will also be required to carry out administrative tasks related to clinical care. This will include keeping accurate and up-to-date records, the collection and analysis of data and the development and implementation of audits. There will also be the opportunity for participation in ad hoc project work. You will be expected to take part in initiatives and training to support continued professional development as required within the Centre.
**What you will need**:
- Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
- Upper Second-class honours degree in Psychology or higher
- Experience of working voluntarily or paid within the field of mental health and physical disability alongside
- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with neurological problems.
- Excellent standards of communication, both written and verbal
- Ability to communicate highly sensitive information to patients and colleagues
- High standard of report writing & good general computer skills
- An ability to interact effectively with younger people, with people with neurocognitive problems and those with physical disability
- An ability to interact effectively with colleagues and staff from other disciplines and agencies
- Ability to work independently and consistently to a high standard
- An interest in working with older people and people with neuropsychological problems
- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a flexible manner to meet service needs.
