As a **Head of Care Commissioning**you’ll play a vital role in**leading the development of strategic commissioning for adult social care, ensuring performance management of commissioned and contracted services with particular focus on(but not limited to) care home, domiciliary, supported living, learning.**

**About the role**:
Based in **Herefordshire** (Hybrid), you will be tasked with the following:

- To lead and manage the commissioned and contract functions to ensure quality and best value.
- To ensure strategic alliance to national and local priorities for adults and wellbeing directorate and in particular seek opportunities for integration with key stakeholders such as health.
- Represent the council at a local level, a regional and national basis to identify and promote best practice.
- Lead the commissioning of adult social care services to manage and minimise demand on social care and health services and help transform relationships with local people.
- Lead the commissioning and redesign of key services across the adult social care portfolios to achieve better outcomes for local people.
- Lead and contribute to corporate programmes to help deliver change management and service improvements
- Design and deliver the brokerage support function (care and community)
- Act as lead council representative for LD Partnership and Autism Board, ensuring appropriate substitute is in attendance if unavailable

**About you**:
You will have the following skillsets or experiences:

- Skilled in negotiation with external Providers
- Able to manage conflict, opposing views and challenging Providers in order to reach resolution
- Able to develop innovative responses to changes in the market
- Experienced in transformation work and achievement of savings
- Able to develop co-production approaches to commissioning of services
- Manage, co-ordinate and develop a team of commissioners working across both adults and children’s services
- Able to consider all age approaches
- Have a high level of personal resilience
- Able to operate in fast paced, complex environment
