Joseph Heler Ltd is a third generation family-run cheese producer. Originally Dairy farmers, the business has developed in to one of the largest independent cheese makers in the UK.

The business supplies cheese via multiple channels including retailers, wholesale, export and e-commerce. It’s a third generation business with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, collaboration, development and a team with personality.

The business supplies a combination of own label and branded products including Eatlean, its pioneering healthy cheese. The business is growing and expanding and has ambitious plans for the future with sites in both Nantwich and Wales.

A fantastic opportunity to join our growing Operations team has arisen in our newly acquired site, Heler Foods Packing, in Minffordd, Wales in the role of Buyer.

Working with the Site Director and wider team, the Buyer will be responsible for a variety of purchasing activity and no two days will be the same

Duties will include:

- To be responsible for tactical/day to day activities to support all operational procurement activities
- Support supply chain and distribution purchasing strategies
- Negotiate and develop strong long term supplier relationships
- Identify, research and tender new suppliers
- Responsibility and accountability for actions, constantly striving to improve and exceed expectations ensuring safety and quality are never compromised
- Support and aid delivery of procurement key objectives.
- Assist in reporting of cost scenario analysis and benchmarking, providing meaningful data to the business
- Ensure coordinated availability, cooperation and flexible delivery of effective and efficient stock control practices across the business.
- Support the review of all current spending across the business and support achievement of procurement plan
- Support execution of the procurement plan, delivering savings in each area
- Assist creation of a monthly update for the board
- Cross functional approach to support the team provision, workloads, efficiencies and performance
- Ensure a culture of a collaborative approach in all procurement matters
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Negotiate and support management of supplier contracts
- Assist in forecasting price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
