Job Introduction
**Job Title - HWRC Driver/Plant Operator**

**Salary - £30,024 - £33,699 (Grade 5)**

**Hours - 37 hours (Wednesday to Sunday)**

**Contract type - Full time, permanent**

**A Current Valid UK Driving Licence Category C or above and a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is required for this role.**

We are seeking a HWRC Driver/Plant Operator to drive and operate all mobile plant and vehicles associated with HWRC’s to the safe and efficient standards set down in the applicable work directives and schedules.

As a HWRC Driver/Plant Operator, you will:

- Drive and operate plant/vehicles in a safe and professional manner adhering to site rules, road traffic legislation, passenger safety and other road users with full regard to minimising any environmental impact through employing an effective driving style.
- Carry out a prescribed Vehicle Defect Report (VDR) using the appropriate forms, prior to use of the vehicle to ensure legal compliance of the vehicle and having it signed off. Also, to complete the driver daily hours logbook and obtain confirmation signature each week.
- Identify and report any vehicle defects arising, from either 5 above or when occurring during the operating day during, immediately to your line manager/ designated manager
- Carry out routine maintenance of mobile plant/machinery when requested (change oil and water).
- Represent the Council as a point of first contact for any issues or assistance required by the customer/contractor during the performance of the assigned duties.

Role requirements:

- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent qualification, or relevant equivalent experience.
- Current Valid UK Driving Licence Category C or above
- Current Valid Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Licences and certificate for plant/ equipment use
- Emergency First Aid
- Experience in the use of specialised HWRC mobile plant including wheeled and tracked loading shovels, landfill compactor, telescopic handler, compost turner, 360 grab and dumper truck.
- Mechanical knowledge
