OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION The Structured Debt Capital Market (SDCM) business mandate is to: - In conjunction with MUFG Bank's European Structured Finance Office ("ESFO"), develop a sustainable client focused debt capital markets origination and structuring business for structured finance based transactions in support of MUFG clients in EMEA. The desk covers both public and private forms of debt capital market issuance with the latter requiring close interface with the USPP team based in NY. - Provide Structured DCM support for ESFO debt advisory transactions. - Support the origination and structuring of long term institutional debt transactions that will be underwritten by MUFG Group entities. - Where appropriate, develop value-added direct Securities client relationships with bond issuer clients across EMEA. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Within Debt Capital Markets, SDCM is specifically focused on marketing MUFG’s structured bond financing capabilities to the ESFO client base across EMEA. Looking for a talented, motivated and ambitious individual to support the head of the desk in delivering SDCM’s desk business mandate. This role will be based in London. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Efficiently manage both the preparation of pitching materials for new opportunities and the undertaking of the relevant execution processes for mandated transactions such as documentation review, deal notifications, preparation of internal support memo’s and information-gathering for KYC procedures - Drive analytical thinking when developing client solutions, through bespoke financial modelling and analysis - Proactively create structuring ideas and new business proposals which meet our client’s needs - Clearly explain the risks to our clients, and provide our clients with all the information they need to make an informed judgement about a transaction - Effectively communicate and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders (e.g. ESFO origination colleagues, DSG, syndicate, internal / external lawyers, compliance & other related counterparties) to deliver client objectives - Active involvement in employee networks / CSR, leading by example in these areas - In all activities, protect and enhance the firm’s and the Group’s reputation - Work in partnership with other parts of the Group to deliver franchise and business growth - Maintain & develop SDCM credentials & relevant market / sector updates to be included in client presentations - Maintain database of recent market issuance - Maintain SDCM pipeline reports, including related MUFG client reporting - Maintain & develop SDCM public secondary pricing database SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Functional / Technical Competencies: - c.3yrs of Debt Investment Banking experience, with any exposure to Project Finance / Debt Capital Markets beneficial - Any language skills would be beneficial but not a necessity Education / Qualifications: - Bachelor/Master Degree or equivalent qualifications in any discipline PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS - Solutions focused with proven business judgment and high ethical and professional standards - Stakeholder management skills to collaborate with other departments - Project management skills with an ability to structure the deliverables in a coherent manner - Excellent communication skills - Excellent PowerPoint, Excel and Project Management skills - A structured and logical approach to work - Strong problem solving skills - A creative and innovative approach to work - The ability to manage large workloads and tight deadlines - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy We are open to considering flexible working requests in line with organisational requirements.
