Electrical Supervisor

Here at OCU we currently have an opportunity for an Electrical Supervisor to join us working in our office based in Iver. The role is in place to oversee a pool of both subcontractors and direct labour cable jointing teams. Preparing their work packs, managingperformance and productivity, pre-visiting sites to enable works activities to commence and review jointers competency to safely carryout their work
**Responsibilities**
- Managing a team of up to 8 jointing teams
- Sanity checking planned works
- Reviewing and updating schedule information
- Producing task instructions
- First point of escalation for any jointing related operational issues
- Ensuring the return of all required paperwork and managing quality
- Pre-vetting customer dependent sites to ensure compliance to build spec
- Advising Planning department on work detail and timescales to complete activities
- Completing audits and inspections to ensure compliance to health and safety
- Performing NERs inspections in line with accreditation requirements
- Undertaking required site meetings with customer and client
- Attending sites to advise and guide customers on electrical installation requirements _(Substations, cut-outs, cables, joints) _and ascertaining works scope and resource requirement.
- Working closely with Planning department to schedule activities to the required dates
- Ascertaining required work elements
- Utilising available resource
- Correctly assigning required craftsmen
- All jobs planned and delivered successfully, hitting key contract and notification dates ensuring zero guaranteed standard failures are incurred
- Full compliance on all project paperwork and documentation
- Information correctly recorded against each job on Depotnet and relevant trackers
- Successfully communicating progress and amendments to customer, client and operation team
- Correct and timely advice given to managers and colleagues
- Risk principles considered in all work undertaken
- Work completed within specified timescales or negotiated where necessary
- Effective relationships built and feedback received
- Regular review of performance objectives
- Dealing with affected stakeholders
- Liaising with authorities
- Notifying all necessary parties to ensure work can be carried out
- Contacting and updating customer and client throughout job progression.
- Accurately updating all work management systems and trackers, progressing jobs through each stage of construction.
- Producing jeopardy reports, age profiling outstanding jobs, managing timely job completion
- Manage and prioritise own workload, taking into account your own objectives and those of the wider team
- Create, maintain, and enhance working relationships with key contacts across the project
- Actively contribute towards departmental plan as guided by manager. Report progress on performance at regular intervals
- Supporting the specification, development and implementation of interventions and enablers to address function relevant issues
- Carry out any other duties appropriate for the role.
**Experience & Skills**
- Experience within the electrical distribution sector and an understanding of installation construction requirements
- Experience dealing with medium size + construction sites, including experience managing schemes falling under CDM regulations.
- Proficient use and knowledge of software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Understanding of the new roads and street works act
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to work within a team

- IOSH Managing Safety
- Project Management _(Prince2 or similar)_
- Current, or expired, DNO authorisation - SSE or other
- NRSWA Supervisor accreditation
- Knowledge of the electrical distribution industry, either through direct DNO of contractor employment
- Experience using SSEN’s EO Web online mapping system
- Has worked operationally within the electrical distribution industry
- Advanced Communication, Interpersonal & Organisational Skills.
