Financial Planning Analyst

**FINANCIAL PLANNING ANALYST / MANCHESTER (HYBRID WORK) / £35,000 PER ANNUM + BENEFITS**

**WEX Europe Services**is a leading provider of Fuel cards operating across multiple European countries. We are a high volume, low margin business, reliant on improving the volume of sales to continue our revenue growth.

Due to ongoing growth, we are looking for a **Financial Planning Analyst** to focus on the volume performance of the business, how it impacts our financials, identify opportunities and support improvements in volume across the business and deliverthe internal and corporate reporting associated with our volume performance.

**Main goal and objective**:
This Financial Planning Analyst role will focus on your ability to model future volumes by analyzing our historic performance. You will also need to build relationships across the organization to understand what will be different in the future, how risks,opportunities and strategic initiatives will affect sales levels, and then factor this insight into your models.

You will need to analyse actual volumes against your predictions and explain the variances, providing insight into customer behavior or operational activity that has driven these deltas. You will also need to analyse our current vs historic performance.

Most importantly you must be able to 'see the wood for the trees’, we have a lot of dynamics impacting volume, you need to make sure that we focus on the most important ones to drive improved performance.

**Experience and Skills Required**:

- Highly skilled at dealing with large volumes of data in Excel and other tools, ideally Access, SQL, Power BI
- Highly numerate, attention to detail and financial reconciliation.
- Comfortable working within tight deadlines, managing multiple priorities and turning information around quickly
- Strong organisational skills and self-review discipline with excellent communication skills to relay key findings.
- Able to learn new skills and systems quickly, with a questioning approach to the role.
- Ability to summarise and contextualise performance - understand what it means to the business, what is valuable information to report on and what should be left out

**Minimum Required Qualifications & Experience**:

- Enthusiastic self-starter, driven by intent to succeed and achieve personal and company goals
- Skilled at modelling large and complex data sets - advanced Excel skills are essential as is experience of MI production for a variety of audiences
- Confident presenting your work and able to summarise to the key points
- Financial experience including management accounts preparation and month end reporting cycles
- Highly committed to quality and accuracy
- Flexible and adaptable, comfortable in a changing environment where reporting requirements will change regularly
- Resilient team player with a responsible and positive outlook
- First-rate communications skills

**Key Responsibilities of the Financial Planning Analyst**:

- Volume forecast model - maintain an ongoing projection of volume performance by customer
- Set target volumes by customer in liaison with the operational teams and the exec team, ensuring corporate targets are met in a way that the operational teams will buy into and support
- Report on actual volume performance vs forecast and prior periods, this includes analysing volume into relevant streams based on customer behaviour, business type or geographic location
- Reporting at exec level on attrition performance including providing insight into the key drivers for lost litres, trending vs prior periods and assessing the impact of strategic initiatives to reduce litres lost
- Monthly Volume Reporting - produce all month end volume reports and provide all input needed to support the month end close processes
- Corporate volume reporting - produce all the input and commentary needed for volume performance in the management accounts and corporate bridges. Also support with revenue commentary as needed.
- Corporate volume reporting - produce the monthly Same Store Sales analysis and the Sales Metrics slide deck
- Calculate forecast and actual Revenue Drivers (volume, active and outstanding card numbers, transaction numbers)
- Work closely with the Data Analytics team to ensure all volume reporting remains aligned and is produced and communicated as efficiently as possible
- Provide month end commentary on volume and driver performance vs forecast and prior periods
- Customer Margin - support the Margin Analyst with data preparation for customer margin calculation
- Exxon Eligible Volume (subset of total volume) - maintain an ongoing forecast, outlook and report on actual performance including analysis by customer, segment, country
