Job Purpose: To manage and assume overall responsibility for the success of the shop by leading all operational aspects of the shop, driving sales whilst at the same time controlling costs and by being a skilled people manager. You will ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service. Responsibilities: - Ensure that consistently excellent customer service is always provided by every member of your team - Inspire, motivate, and energise your team to increase sales - Manage stock control (products, paper & factored goods) in line with Company guidelines - Ensure the standards for food safety and health and safety are met consistently - Utilise the Company Capability Procedure to rectify any individual performance shortfalls - Ensure that the visual presentation of the shop is in accordance with Birds brand image - Support the delivery of all marketing campaigns and customer service initiatives as decided by the Company - Develop an effective network of communication with all internal stakeholders - Effectively manage the performance and development of the shop team to drive and maximise the shop’s sales, payroll, waste, and reconciliation performance - Resolve problems by providing creative and practical solutions - Ensure that the shop is profitable and within budget - Be compliant with Company policies and operational guidelines - Achieve sales goals and expectations; train, challenge, motivate, encourage, and provide constructive guidance to all your team - Continuously monitor the competition and local market conditions to be able to maintain Birds business advantage - You will have responsibility for all shop security matters - For developmental purposes you will be required to move shops on a periodic basis at the Company’s discretion. You must be flexible with regards to location. Measurements: - Exceed sales year on year by Company price inflation plus an agreed % - Maintain the agreed shop waste levels - Your reconciliation must be within the agreed parameters - Payroll expenditure to be on or under budget year on year - Appraisals for shop colleagues carried out within the agreed cycle. Applicants must have: - Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to drive and motivate performance utilising effective coaching skills - A sound understanding of shop operational optimisation and standards for success - A basic and practical knowledge of IT - Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities - Qualified to at least GCSE Grade C in English and Maths - A flexible attitude to working hours (to include evenings & 7 day trading) - The desire to work as part of, and lead, a team to generate fresh and innovative ideas and solutions.
