**Job Title: Bid Author / Writer**

**Location: Blackburn (Hybrid) / Northwest**

**Reporting to: Head of Tenders**

**Role**:
The Bid Author is responsible for the production of professionally written proposals and pitch content that superbly articulates the organisations value proposition and win themes. This is a highly networked role that requires a forensic attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure and demanding deadlines. The bid author plays a leading role in ensuring the effective co-ordination and timely completion of tenders.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Work with the allotted Bid Manager & Key Account Manager (KAM) to develop win themes and proposal content that is clear, compelling and articulated in such a way to exceed the client’s requirements.
- Challenging content for readability, consistency, clarity and brand compliance utilising standard tools and processes (Bid content library, Share-point sites etc).
- Re-write / edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, engineering, finance, legal & compliance and external stakeholders.
- Deliver completed written proposal responses to the Bid Manager against agreed deadlines, escalating issues as required.
- Assist the Bid Manager in developing a proposal structure and advising them on how to improve win-rates by making bids more high-scoring and compelling to clients
- Lead storyboard sessions with bid / proposal team members.
- Communicating requirements, deadlines and expectations to key stakeholders
- Present and tag all new proposal content to the central Bid Administrator for potential re-use.
- Proactively propose new and different ways of working to our business challenges, focussing on ways to improve the quality of bids whilst reducing costs
- Forensic attention to detail and meticulous proof-reading skills.
- Actively seek feedback on both successful and unsuccessful proposals to inform future bids and to improve overall quality standards
- Knowledge & experience in the use of proposal automation software (Desirable).
- Graduate level or equivalent experience with a broadly relevant qualification or skill set e.g. Marketing, English Literature, Professional Writing, Journalism as examples.
- Evidence in producing high scoring written content for competitive tenders with strong focus on attention to detail, grammar, proven track record of successfully delivering multiple projects on time.
- Experienced in leading storyboarding sessions, participating in key review meetings / final document review, content sign-off, and document production.
- Excellent written English language skills are essential for this role.
- Experience of coordinating / managing and updating a knowledgebase system is also desirable.
- In-depth experience of the bid environment & associated processes, ideally within a professional services environment.
- Assertive and motivating and able to support others within the workplace
- A natural multi-tasker and ability to track and manage multiple projects
- Excellent communicator, written and spoken.
- Can handle a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to uphold and support the Company's Values and Behaviours.
- Advanced user of MS Office suite.
- APMP Foundation (Practitioner or Professional level desirable).

**Security clearance**:
Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared.
