The nursery is purpose-built to Ofsted specification, putting the children's welfare first and foremost. Great emphasis has been placed on the design and layout in order to provide first-class facilities both for indoors and outdoors development.
This is a full-time role of 30 hours per week which will require flexibility between the opening hours of the nursery 7.15am-6.15pm Monday-Friday. Duties may include but are not limited to:
Work in partnership with the Senior/Assistant Childcare Practitioners and be fully involved in all activities associated with the children. Ensure a positive role model is portrayed at all times. You may be asked to work within other rooms within the nursery as required where applicable.
Communicate effectively with the staff team to ensure understanding of responsibilities on a day-to-day basis, carrying these out in a professional and effective manner.
Ensure that a courteous and approachable manner is displayed at all times to parents, children and the staff team to maintain positive relationships.
Support the staff team in planning and development of the children, appropriate to their individual needs, paying due regard to the Early Years curriculum. Through play, promote children’s development in relation to the 7 areas of learning.
Support the staff with the continued and ongoing care and development appropriate to the needs of individual children, in line with recognised standards and learning outcomes that include working through the medium of play to:
Maintain a child orientated environment
Promote the physical development of the children
Promote the social and emotional development of the children
Promote positive management of children’s behaviour
Promote the children’s sensory and intellectual development
Promote the development of children’s language and communication skills
Under supervision, assist the staff team in completion of observation, assessment and record keeping of individual children in their Learning Journeys, ensuring these records are kept up to date.
To be able to work well within a team, as well as using your own initiative.
Assist the staff team maintaining a safe environment for the children, ensuring that equipment and resources are well cared for and stored properly, reporting any breakages or unsafe equipment to the staff team. In the event of any accident/incident ensure all Health and Safety, and Safeguarding and Well-being of Children policies and procedures are implemented effectively.
Assist the staff team/children to ensure the environment remains up to date and changed depending on the needs/ interests of children. This includes display boards, activities, room layout, etc.
Entry requirements
Someone with an existing Level 2 Early Years or Childcare, with relevant experience looking to progress to the L3 Early Years Educator.
GCSE or equivalent Maths/English (Grade 4) desirable.
Training to be provided
You will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship. As you progress through your apprenticeship your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career in childcare
Training will be a mix of face to face and online learning.
You will gain an Early years educator level 3 qualification.
Functional Skills in Maths and English if required.

Activities can vary at this busy nursery open from 7.15am-6.15pm Monday-Friday and the role will be physically demanding.
