**The Post**

The College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated ELSA qualified Specialist Learning Facilitator/Teaching Assistant to join the College’s Learning Support Department. The successful applicant will be required to provide ELSA support to students in addition to other Specialist Learning Facilitator duties.

You will act as a mentor and critical friend to other Learning Facilitators, ensuring that they are able to meet the demands of their role.

The post is available immediately on a permanent, full or part-time, term-time only basis (39 weeks per year). The hours of work are either:
- Full-time - 8.45am to 4.15pm, Monday to Friday, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break each day (79.34%), or

Part-time - 8.45am to 4.15pm, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday or Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break each day (47.60%)

Previous experience of working with teenagers is desirable, but not essential. The post holder will spend a significant amount of the working day interacting with students, so the ability to feel confident in the presence of and communicating with young adults is essential. The role requires an appreciation of working within an educational context supporting learning.

The post holder will be required to work with students with mild to complex learning needs. The post requires commitment and flexibility in the approach to work, with the ability to remain calm at all times. You will be required to attend our 3 Open Evenings in the autumn term for which time off in lieu will be given.

The Department is made up of a variety of roles including Learning Facilitators who extensively provide one to one support to learners with EHCPs, and Specialist Learning Facilitators who hold and utilise a specific qualification, such as ELSA or Exam Access arrangements. The job description is standardised for a Specialist Learning Facilitator, but for this particular post, the specialism is for ELSA.

**The Department**

The Department is housed in the Priory Building in a purpose-built centre that includes quiet working areas, desktop computers and one-to-one spaces. The Department has access to mobile learning devices and specialist software to further enhance learning.

The Department is a large and friendly team who work in a co-operative and flexible manner. Strong emphasis is given to mutual support by the exchange of ideas and materials.

**Salary**

Full-time, term-time only (79.34%) is from £20,499.87 to £21,035.41 per annum (FTE £25,838 to £26,513).
