This is in an exciting opportunity for an experienced Database Administrator to work on a permanent basis. The role will work within the DevOps & Operations department, providing technical Azure/MS SQL expertise to support the aims and objectives of the DevOps function. You will also be responsible for ensuring the security, availability, integrity and end to end support of Azure/MS SQL services.

What you'll be doing:

- The role will involve a diverse split between BAU & projects work, which will include working with both on-premises and Cloud based systems (mixture of vendor/internally developed)
- The role will require providing tactical and strategic solutions focusing on database design, scalability, availability, tuning and performance enhancements
- Performing proactive monitoring of the SQL Server estate, ensuring system availability and performance
- Support the business/customer, resolving issues within agreed SLAs
- Reviewing database changes produced by the Development team, ensuring their suitability and performance
- Administering, maintaining, and monitoring security of the database platforms

What we're looking for:

- Experience Administering, managing & maintaining large databases
- Expert knowledge of either MS/Azure SQL administration and security protocols for Client Server environments deployed using Cloud based IaaS, PaaS and SaaS solutions on Windows platforms (using Azure)
- Experience working within a CI/CD environment, including understanding of automated DevOps release management pipelines & next generation tooling (i.e. Azure DevOps)
- Excellent performance tuning and troubleshooting skills
- Scripting knowledge and ability (PowerShell)
- Ability to ensure business continuity by developing and implementing highly available database systems, disaster recovery and database backup and recovery plans and procedures, both on-premises and in Azure

**Salary**: £35,519.03-£76,104.95 per year
