As a Job Coach you are key to achieving this, you will be building and maintaining a great relationship with your customers. You’ll motivate, coach and challenge them to fulfil their potential and enable them to secure sustainable and enjoyable jobs. So what will you be doing?

To engage, motivate and support people with complex barriers to move into sustainable employment. To liaise with external organisations and employers to ensure individuals receive the support they require and to source sustainable employment.

1. To successfully manage a caseload of unemployed customers to assist them in overcoming barriers to employment and to support them into sustainable employment by providing encouragement, training and effective monitoring and guidance.

2. To carry out a needs assessment and co-design an action plan with customers, identify their skills, improve their CV, interview techniques, identify employment opportunities and monitor effective progression into employment.

3. To build strong, collaborative working relationship with customers, tailoring the support to their needs, motivating, coaching and challenging them to fulfil their potential and enabling them to secure sustainable employment.

4. Case manage the customers progress end-to-end, through regular case reviews, including measuring distance travelled, and providing ongoing advice, guidance and, where required, signposting to specialist stakeholders

5. To ensure performance and targets are met as required by contractual requirements. To achieve individual daily, weekly and monthly targets as set by the Department Manager.

6. To undertake in work support activities to ensure an individual is able to maintain their employment and well-being. Identifying any risk and mitigating risk to ensure objectives/goals can be met.

7. Working with partners to contribute to and influence the development of the participant’s action plan. This could include warm handovers from JCP, integration of support delivered by health providers, or agreeing joint delivery of support with local authority social services.

8. Undertake or participate in regular case conferences with partner organisations, support services, employers and/or other team members to ensure every participant’s journey is smooth and consistent.

9. Organise and co-ordinate a varied timetable of activities, including one to one meeting, group sessions, outreach appointments and employer and stakeholder engagement.

10. Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, in collaboration with the Employer Engagement Officer, to identify vacancies and where required tailor these to participants strengths and needs. To maintain a supportive relationship with both participant and employer once employment begins.

11. Build and maintain relationships with existing services within the community that will support participants in achieving their employability and wellbeing gaols, including voluntary opportunities, benefits advice, counselling, housing support, training, health services and leisure activities.

12. Be fully responsible for all tasks related to journey/case management function including maintaining effective and efficient administrative procedures producing appropriate records and reports, including the updating of participant details on the relevant case management system. To complete paperwork and to ensure that customers files are maintained in line with contractual and quality compliance requirements.

13. Maintain up to date knowledge of the benefit system and entitlements.

14. Attend departmental and best practice meetings as required. To provide a quality service which meets contractual requirements and activity encourage customers to take part in evaluation and feedback.

15. To maintain up to date working knowledge of the local labour market and sector developments, training opportunities and relevant support agencies in particular health and well-being service providers.
