We are looking for a a highly motivated scientist to carry out a research project funded by the British Heart Foundation in the laboratory of Professor Andrew H Baker, aiming to understand the importance of RNA in the setting of vascular injury. Applicants must have a PhD (or be near completion) and appropriate experience indicated in publications in international peer reviewed journals. You must possess excellent organisation skills and be capable of individual initiative and of interacting as part of a team. Laboratory skills required include experience in RNA biology, vascular biology and/or animal models of cardiovascular disease.
**The Opportunity**:
To contribute to the management and publishing BHF Programme Grant defined research relating to the role of non-coding RNA in cardiovascular disease. This will involve analysis of both microRNA and long non-coding RNA in vitro, in vivo and in human biological samples.
**Your Skills and Attributes for Success**:
- Appropriate degree, with relevant post-graduate research experience and accumulated knowledge.
- A PhD (or near completion) or equivalent professional qualification and/or experience in the field of RNA biology or cardiovascular biology/therapy.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing and with appropriate IT and interpersonal skills
- Experience in relevant approaches and models, analytical techniques and methods (includes practical lab work, data manipulations and subsequent dissemination of research in form of publication), particularly in vivo models of cardiovascular disease.
