**Who are we?**
Newmedica is one of the leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services in England, providing outpatients appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery. We interact with over 160,000 patients annually, from outpatient appointments to surgery to correct cataracts and help manage other eye conditions. We’re passionate about providing individual care for our patients and have a vision to change lives through better sight and eye health.
Our services are delivered through a variety of models including Managed Services and primarily Ophthalmology Joint Venture (OJV) Partnerships, with each eye centre focused on providing excellent care to their communities. We have significant growth plans as we look to establish a national footprint and open many new sites over the next few years.
Due to our growth, we are looking for an additional Theatre Advisor to join our Patient Safety team. This close-knit and friendly team are responsible for all theatre related advice and guidance for our clinical sites.
**Overview of the role**
**So** what will I be doing?**
The Theatre Advisor is a hands-on job - you’ll be visiting sites and observing theatre clinical practice, undertaking mock CQC inspections, undertaking theatre audits and providing advice and support regarding theatre equipment and consumables.
The role is also involved with policy and protocol review and creation and supporting the sites with adherence of these. You’ll also support the development of training standards for theatre nurses. In all you do you’ll be able to challenge supportively and in a solution driven way where practice does not meet best practice, guidance or legislation.
The role holder will have excellent stakeholder management skills and will work in a true collaborative way with Operational and Clinical Partners across our sites. You'll also play an active role in managing the Newmedica Theatre Practitioner Network.
**What experience do I need?**
The role holder will be a Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with considerable theatre experience, including ophthalmic experience.
You will have experience of training, coaching and mentoring others and will be well versed in flexing your style to suit different audiences to get the best results.
You will have working knowledge and experience of conducting audits and reviewing compliance levels and of putting in place mitigations and solutions where improvements may be required.
You’ll be experienced in investigating incidents and handling complaint resolutions.
We’re looking for a calm and considered individual. This is ideal for someone who wants a role with independence, it’s a real chance to do something different every day and to move away from the regular routine of hospital life.
It’s a great opportunity to share your experience and knowledge with others across the Newmedica business.
The role is home based but will involve regular and extensive travel to our OJV sites so we’re looking for someone who would be comfortable travelling and spending some nights away from home.
The role holder will be required to be on a rota for any post operative patient phone calls on very occasional weekends throughout the year. This on call time will be paid for.
**What can we offer you?**
- £40,000 - 50,000 depending upon experience
- Up to 15% company bonus, paid quarterly based on company performance and personal objectives
- Car allowance of £5,500
- 25 days annual leave plus public holidays,
- Company pension,
- Access to a range of benefits including free eye tests, discounted or free glasses, a free 24/7 well-being/counselling/advice service, private medical insurance, private dental care, health care scheme, death in service cover, an opportunity to sign up to a tax-free cycle to work and a retail/technology discount scheme.
