Receptionist Pre-operative Assessment Department

Pre-operative Assessment is a nurse led clinic which is at the heart of the elective surgical pathway. Within this role as an experienced receptionist you will be responsible for the management of the daily clinical template working with your line manager and administrative colleagues to ensure all available appointments are correctly utilised. Within the role you will be liaising and booking appointments via the waiting list teams and any additional patients that the department has been asked to see. Good communication skills, time management and a good work ethic along with a sense of humour and pride are essential.
Making sure all appointments are scheduled equally amongst all the pre-op nurses over the whole working day
Be able to present any potential problems to the clinical team for further input where necessary using clear and concise communication skills.
Be able to work as part of a team and be able to pick up other colleagues work if necessary to ensure the departmental deadlines are met, this will include supporting the case note co-ordinators when the need arises

Ensure accurate information is input into the Patient Administration system (Patient Centre) to support the recording of a patient episode of care
Ensure patients letters and an ICP are available for the health care professionals during the clinics
To treat patients with dignity and respect and to handle all sensitive information in a confidential manner
Ability to communicate with patients and extract information in a polite and professional manner
Assist in the preparation of the reception area by ensuring that it is a clean and welcoming experience for patient
At the end of each day, ensure the reception area is left clean and organised ready for the following day
