Trainee Brick

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in the position of Trainee Brick and Concrete Product Tester.
Salary starting at £25,000, to be enhanced on completion of probationary period & training plan.
This is primarily in a physical test environment here at our Measham laboratory, but this is not a “white coat lab”, as we test products and materials that are used to build the homes and commercial properties around the UK.
No previous experience is necessary; however, the successful applicant must have the ability to work as part of a team, undertake all tests accurately and consistently and have a practical approach in dealing with testing raw materials such as clay and aggregates.
This position reports to the Clay Services Manager and will support the Technologist.
Your duties would include but not limited to the following;
- Obtaining samples for testing from the factory.
- Measuring products for dimensional accuracy.
- Weighing products to verify density.
- Testing the physical strength of products.
- Tests on clays and aggregates such as sieving for grading.
- Updating spreadsheets with data.
- General housekeeping duties to maintain clean & tidy work areas.

About you;
- Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written including the ability to converse fluently in English.
- Must have a good level of numeracy, be computer literate and have a methodical approach to data collection.
- Must have the ability to work as part of a small team, but also under their own initiative.
- Regular manual handling of products and raw materials is required as part of this role.
