Grade 6- £38,058- £41,442pa plus market supplement of £7,770 p.a. (Pay review April 2025)**
**About the Job**
Undertaking the duties of a professional clerk of works, you will work independently and with a minimum of supervision within a team environment.
You will oversee the quality and safety of work on construction projects being delivered by the team, ensuring that building plans and specifications are followed correctly.
Building good relationships with all stakeholders, you will make sure that projects are delivered on time and to a good standard, attending meetings on site, monitoring progress, and producing regular reports on progress to Project Managers, the Senior Clerk of Works and others in the design team.
You will make sure value for money is achieved through rigorous testing/inspection of materials and workmanship throughout the building process.
To ensure delivery of a customer-focused service, you will consult and liaise with tenants and leaseholders to make sure that their requirements are met.
The post covers a 36 hour week but you may be required to work evenings, weekends and occasional public holidays in order to meet service requirements.
You will be required to visit construction sites on a regular basis to conduct inspections and assessments, which will involve physical activity, such as the use of ladders and other inspection aids, in all weathers.
**About You**
You are an experienced Clerk of Works/Surveyor/Trade Foreman, on new and occupied sites, with in-depth knowledge of relevant JCT terms of contract, and legislation and statutory requirements including CDM Regulations, Asbestos Regulations, Scaffolding Regulations, Planning and Building Regulations and related compliance requirements.
You have some experience and knowledge of Local Government practices and procedures.
You work with accuracy, prioritising, planning and managing your workload to meet conflicting demands and deadlines
Your personal and professional demeanour enables you to create and maintain effective working relationships, consulting and negotiating with others, including site managers, contractors, clients, consultants and residents.
You can prepare progress reports and are competent in using Microsoft Office software and a variety of remote communication packages such as Skype, Zoom and Teams.
You understand what constitutes unfair discrimination and its effects on the community and employees, including disadvantaged groups in both.
You are capable of undertaking site visits and accessing all parts of building sites, including the use of ladders and scaffold, and hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for use at work.
