An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 x 18 hour Milk Bank Process Operators to join the Milk Bank team here at Chester.
The Milk Bank Process Operator will be responsible for the pasteurisation of donor breast milk. Working without direct supervision, they will report to and be accountable to the Milk Bank Operational Manager.

The role will be focused on the preparation of donor milk for pooling, bottling and pasteurisation according to NICE guideline 93 and HACCP guidelines. In addition, they will prepare milk samples for transport to the laboratory for microbiology testing.
The post holder will be expected to be competent in use of specialist equipment used for pasteurising and milk nutritional analysis in a controlled clean environment. They will maintain high standards of hygiene and safety and adhere to milk processing procedures.
The role requires standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy jugs (weighing 2-3kg) and baskets throughout the day and repetitive actions including filling, sealing and labelling approximately 400 bottles per day. The post holder will be expected to work in a cold room working with chilled and frozen human milk as well as being able to deal with regular interruptions including dealing with telephone calls and visitors.
The post holder will provide administrative support to the Milk Bank team. supporting donor recruitment and screening, dealing with milk collections and deliveries and maintaining accurate records to ensure the smooth running of the service.
The role requires excellent customer care and communication skills as well as very good organisational skills. The post holder will be expected to communicate effectively across the Milk Bank team to ensure the service runs efficiently.
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital.
The Trust provides services in all of the surgical and medical specialties common to a District General Hospital with some specialist services. The Trust serves the whole of the local population currently in excess of 250,000 residents which geographically covers populations in England and North Wales.
