**Job Description - Apprenticeship**

**Job title: Trainee/Apprentice Instructor**
**Hours per week: 20 hours minimum - more during the summer months**
**Rate of Pay: £5.28 - Apprentice**

**Reports To**:Bari Jones/Alice Reynolds
**Job Purpose including any special requirements of the role (weekend work/ evenings)**:
To provide assistance with all aspects of an outdoor adventure centre (weekend and school holiday work will be required). We will provide training either in-house or external for all the skills necessary to carry out the responsibilities outlined below and support along with the Urdd in achieving qualifications. We will also provide support; for training and looking for long-term work. We will help develop your soft skills, in team work, planning, organisation and communication as part of the role.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Assistant Instructor duties including High Ropes & Low Ropes, Roped Activities, Raft Building, Gorge walking, climbing (rock and outdoor wall) mountain walking and team games.
Assisting with children/youths adventure clubs during the school holidays, including helping in planning activities
Assisting with marketing and administration duties if interested
Assisting with site maintenance, course and kit inspections/repairs
Serving on the till, engaging with customers, selling teas, coffees and tuck shop food.
Talking to customers about the site and the ropes courses.
**Essential**:
- Must have an interest in becoming an outdoor instructor
- Ability to communicate in both Welsh and English
- Willingness to becoming signed off to run activities and to train for National Qualifications
- Must like/have an interest in working at height
- Be available for the summer holidays (busiest time) along with other holidays and weekends
**Desirable**:
- Ideally have some experience working with groups of adults or children
- DBS check
- Driving licence (or be able to make your way to work, without relying on public transport as hours may vary)
- Flexible working (varied length days and weekend working)
- Enjoy working as part of a small team
**Training/Qualifications**:
The framework includes the following qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Outdoor Programmes (QCF)
- Level 3 Technical Certificate (Introduction into Working in the Outdoor)
- Level 3 Certificate in Rights and Employment Responsibilities
- Essential Skills Level 2 (if required)
A large proportion of training will happen in the workplace and within workshops that will be held within working hours. We work with apprentices as individuals and tailor the support we provide to suit the apprentices’ needs.
Additional to the training noted, we also provide onsite training on varied activities within the centre.
