You must be a Registered Nurse (NMC) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with a credited anaesthetic course qualification to join our theatre teams at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH). An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated person to lead an experienced theatre team in Day Surgery Unit. We are seeking for an experienced, qualified professional with excellent anaesthetic skills and up to date knowledge in Gynaecology, Vascular, General Surgery, General/Breast surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, dental, Orthopaedics, Urology, Pain, Cardioversion, Paediatrics and ENT - Ears, Nose and Throat. This role involves occasional wearing of led aprons and manual handling.

You will have the motivation, vision and leadership qualities and as a key member of the senior team, you will have the ability to support anaesthetic or recovery nurses/practitioners to deliver excellent patient care.

We are in search of a flexible dual nurse/practitioner who care about providing the highest standard of perioperative care to their patients and keen in developing their existing skills.

You will have the motivation, vision and leadership qualities necessary to lead a successful theatre team and have a genuine interest in the perioperative environment. As a key member of the senior team, you will deliver high standards of perioperative care, and have the ability to support and develop theatre practitioners to facilitate excellent patient care in the operating theatres.

JOB SUMMARY

To provide expert, holistic care of a high standard to both perioperative patients and their relatives within the King's College Hospital.

To take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of or as delegated by the Senior Nurse/ Service Manager.

To assist in the leadership and development of an identified group of practitioners within the Unit complement.

To act as a clinical resource within the Unit and across the Care Group as necessary.

To act as a positive role model to junior staff members.

CLINICAL PRACTICE

To adhere to the NMC / HPC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.

To demonstrate clinical expertise in the care of any patients receiving treatment in the department.

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate the needs of patients on an ongoing basis, co-ordinating the care given by all members of the clinical team.

To accurately assimilate and interpret clinical information about the patients’ condition, instigate appropriate remedial action and promptly report changes.

To act as a resource person to others, providing accurate information, advice and support to the multidisciplinary team, patients and their relatives.

To ensure that accurate records are maintained reflecting both changes in the patient’s condition and the treatment delivered.

To ensure that patients and their relatives are updated regularly with accurate information, and ensure that this is presented in a sensitive way and one that they understand.

To ensure that Clinical Guidelines are implemented and to be actively involved in auditing practice in conjunction with Line Manager and practice development staff.

To ensure that practice is evidence based and with support assist in the development of policies and protocols within the clinical area.

To uphold high standards of perioperative care, according to existing policies and standards.

To support the process of continuous quality improvement, assisting in audits etc to formally evaluate standards of care and assist in the implem
