The post-holder will carry out diagnostic assessments with Buckinghamshire New University learners to identify students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs), including ADHD, providing essential information to enable the University to implement support and reasonable adjustments in a timely manner for our students and meet our duties under the Equality Act 2010.

The post-holder will work closely with members of the Disability & Inclusion Services, particularly colleagues who deliver our programme of SpLD screening and support throughout the academic year.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title**: Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) Diagnostic Assessor

**Responsible to**: Head of Disability & Inclusion

**Responsible for**: The post-holder will carry out diagnostic assessments with Buckinghamshire New University learners to identify students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs), providing essential information to enable the University to implement support and reasonable adjustments in a timely manner for our students and meet our duties under the Equality Act 2010.

**Job Purpose**:

- Practice an inclusive approach and support building an inclusive university community where people can be themselves. The post-holder will work closely with members of the Disability & Inclusion Services, particularly colleagues who deliver our programme of SpLD screening and support throughout the academic year.

**Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role**:

- Advise the university on suitable testing tools for purchase assessment.
- Keep up to date on best practice in assessment and Access Arrangements, including knowledge of all relevant JCQ regulations.
- To carry out diagnostic assessments for specific learning difficulties, included dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and ADHD.
- To analyse test results in accordance with current professional practice and complete written diagnostic reports strictly within 10 working days of each diagnostic assessment.
- Staying up to date with professional development required of those holding a practising certificate and up to date with requirements of funding bodies regarding students’ diagnostic reports.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance as required in developing and improving service delivery, policy, and procedure relating to the assessment and diagnosis of SpLDs.
- To work alongside other staff in the Disability & Inclusion Services in developing and delivering training for colleagues.
- Assist in obtaining, and act upon, student feedback to refine and develop the services offered, to ensure a high level of customer service attitude is embedded.
- Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practice.
- Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required.
