**Job Purpose**

To provide food preparation/handling and catering functions needed to support the provision of a very effective and efficient service within a busy private Nursery.

**Main Tasks**

**The post holder will be expected to**:

- To assist in the provision of catering for the children's daily food and beverages, ensuring a nutritious diet and catering for any individual dietary requirements.
- Assisting in the creation of a healthy menu following Government nutritional guidance
- Serving/assisting in the distribution of snacks and meals
- Preparation of simple foods
- Assist staff in the serving of meals and clearing away after meal times
- Maintaining a high standard of hygiene within the Nursery kitchen is a major function of the role.
- Carry out laundry tasks on a daily basis, ensuring the laundry space is well maintained and compliant with Health and Safety/COSHH regulations
- Collate meal numbers
- Prepare trolleys for meal times
- Assist Nursery staff in the serving of food to the children
- Liaise with Nursery staff to ensure all dietary requirements, allergies and intolerances are accurate and up to date.
- Maintain correct and up-to-date record systems in accordance with existing policies and procedures.
- Uphold food safety regulations and guidelines at all times
- Check stock levels frequently and collate weekly shopping list for timetabled menus.
- Have a proactive approach to continuous professional development and participate in individual, team and KingsWellies Nursery development
- Take responsibility for duties as delegated by the Nursery Director / Management team

**Desirable/Essential Criteria**

- Proven catering / kitchen assistance experience including food handling, storing, preparation and serving duties.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Previous experience of working as part of a busy team
- Previous catering/kitchen assisting experience
- Allergen awareness qualification

**Job specific skills and competencies**

The post holder is expected to demonstrate:

- Ability to use a variety of kitchen equipment.
- Ability to understand and use online shopping software.

- Hold Disclosure Scotland PVG Membership for Regulated Work with Children/and or Protected Adults or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Wellies Nursery
