Hygge Cares' Prep4Fostering home offers medium term therapeutic placements for children whose emotional and behavioural difficulties are preventing them from functioning in a family environment.
As a member of our team you will support the children to explore the feelings, memories and emotions they experience in a safe and nurturing environment.
You will help to support a managed period of stability and consistency for the children to address the presenting issues which are preventing the child from integrating successfully into a family setting. Hygge Cares' Prep4Fostering service aims to reintegrate a child back into a long terM/Forever fostering family after a period of 12-18 months within our home.
Our home is for children between the ages of 5-12 years on admission.
Starting salary £26,000 (for qualified senior's) plus £62.75 per sleep in. Average 7 + sleep ins per month increasing salary to £31,000 + per annum.
You can expect full support & training from Hygge Care Ltd. Along with your salary you will also receive a sleep in allowance. We offer an excellent therapeutic training package which will support our staff team to develop a wider range of knowledge and skills.
As a Senior Care Worker we are looking for someone that is able to demonstrate the following:
- Ability to effectively lead the day
- Able to communicate confidently with others to include children, staff, other professionals
- Able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of relevant legislation
- To be able to fulfil the emotional needs of children - to feel seen, heard, safe, respected, valued, supported, empathised with and cared for - and to encourage them to develop to their full potential, whilst coming to terms with their life experience.
- To be familiar with all aspects of confidentiality.
- To have basic computer skills.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of practical skills necessary to maintain a home.
- To be able to demonstrate an ability to 'cope' with emotionally challenging situations and to act appropriately under pressure.
- To have the ability to work as part of a team - able to make a positive contribution to team work through constructive support and commitment to the team aims.
- To be aware of the need to maintain a protective environment for the children who have suffered abuse from adults and to develop ways in which they are able to trust adults once more.
- To be able to acknowledge the abuse the children have suffered and to be able to see the child beyond their presenting behaviour.
- An awareness of and commitment to issues relating to anti-discrimination and equal opportunities and how they affect staff and children.
- Good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent
- Further education in NVQ Caring for Children and Young People, QCF Level 3/4 Children and Young People's Workforce Diploma or equivalent.
- Commitment to self development and learning
- Hold a full UK driving license with business insurance
- Able to work shifts which includes 24 hour shifts including sleep-ins at the home
- Able to work overtime if required
