Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real difference to water quality compliance in Yorkshire? We are looking to recruit a Senior Environment Officer (SEO) who will technically support our land and water staff as well as link in with the national ambition for water quality.
Working alongside our land and water teams as well as the new Principal Regulatory Officer, the Water Quality SEO will:
- Lead on delivery of water quality compliance across Yorkshire, and liaise with colleagues from other area teams in order to deliver a consistent approach to regulation
- Co-ordinate work across the team to use resources effectively in line with our local priorities.
- Take a lead role in developing and mentoring our staff by supporting our training programme for Environment Officers.
- Manage relationships with external organisations at a senior level, and represent the Environment Agency at external stakeholder meetings
- Use technical knowledge and experience to deal with complex problems, working with others to find solutions and share best practice
- Take a lead role in the delivery of our regulatory, compliance and technical work
- Collate and contribute to our KPI data for Water Quality regulation work.
- Contribute towards our risk-based planning of water quality compliance inspections
- The team 1- Our regulatory teams work in geographical areas with a strong emphasis on working as one to deliver priorities and outcomes. You will be part of a team who perform regulatory and enforcement roles covering water quality, water resources, agriculture, and incident management. The teams are passionate about the environment and protecting some of the most sensitive areas of the UK, undertaking work that is both interesting and varied.
- Experience/skills required 1 Have relevant operational and technical experience to support and lead team members
- Be able to motivate and inspire the team to meet challenges and deliver prioritised work
- Be confident in your knowledge and skills, with a proven ability to coach and mentor others
- Have experience of delivering work to meet Key Performance Indicators and Business Plans
- Have strong influencing and communication skills
- Have excellent problem-solving skills
- Have relevant experience in environmental compliance, regulation, and enforcement
- Be able to work collaboratively with fellow SEOs and area teams to improve and protect the environment
- Have a full UK driving licence
