**Job summary**:
The Civil Service Commission ensures recruitment, including to the most senior roles, is fair, open and based on merit. The Civil Service Commission also has important roles in relation to the Civil Service Code. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our high-profile organisation.
This is a unique opportunity to engage across government departments, senior civil servants and Civil Service Commissioners. The role involves ensuring adherence to the standards set out in the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010 and the Civil Service Commission's Recruitment Principles (2018). You will also promote the values outlined in the Civil Service Code: honesty, integrity, objectivity, and impartiality.

**Job description**:
This is an important and exciting role within a high-profile, independent non-departmental public body.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as a line manager, empowering and developing an EO policy officer.
- Responsibility for managing the exceptional appointment requests under the Recruitment Principles process and oversight of particularly complex cases.
- Supporting the Policy and Compliance Team in developing policy materials for recruiting organisations and the public.
- Managing the Civil Service Commission’s inbox to ensure expert and timely advice to recruiting organisations across the Civil Service.
- Using excellent communication skills to work with a range of senior stakeholders, including Commissioners and officials in government departments, cultivating relationships where necessary.
- Delivering the Commission new and ambitious training programme on relevant policy areas to recruiting organisations.
- Driving efficiencies and technological developments within the team.
- Proactively leveraging data to inform policy development and decision-making.
- Reporting to the Board of Commissioners on policy and compliance matters.

Essential criteria:
- Strong organisational skills; ability to balance multiple competing priorities, ensuring that key customers and stakeholders are kept informed.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills to make judgements based on evidence within a framework of codes and guidance.
- Ability to lead and empower high-performing reports and shape their personal development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact confidently and professionally with a range of stakeholders; at all levels including the most senior.
- Capable of drafting advice for publication, correspondence and briefings; adapting style as required.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain, interrogate and report on quantitative and qualitative data.
