**Job Description: Restorative Mentor**

Contract Type: Fixed-Term (1 Year) - with extension offers

Working Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week) OR Flexible Part-Time (Minimum of 16hours)

Location: Northamptonshire-Wide Areas (On-site **and**Remote)

**Salary**: £23,800 - £25,000 per annum (dependent on experience; pro rata for part-time)

Probation Period: 3 months

**Role Summary**

The Restorative Mentor plays a vital frontline role in delivering therapeutic mentoring and interventions to young people aged 11-17 who are at risk of serious youth violence, criminal exploitation, or social exclusion.

You will be responsible for delivering Upskill-U's EXODUS programme alongside tailored 1:1 support, while contributing to safeguarding, progress tracking, and multi-agency collaboration.

This is an opportunity for someone with lived or professional experience of the issues faced by vulnerable young people to make a lasting impact through mentoring, advocacy, and positive role modelling.

**Key Responsibilities**

**1:1 Support and Mentoring**
- Deliver targeted 1:1 in-person therapeutic mentoring sessions to young people aged 11-17
- Provide virtual mentoring sessions where required, ensuring consistency and accessibility
- Supplement mentoring with regular telephone support calls to maintain engagement
- Offer practical guidance, emotional support, and positive reinforcement to help mentees achieve their goals
- Support young people in completing self-evaluations, assessments, and reflective tasks
- Set personalised goals with each mentee and regularly review their progress

**Programme Delivery and Facilitation**
- Deliver EXODUS 1 to 1 sessions on key issues including knife crime, mental health, trauma, relationships, and exploitation
- Develop engaging resources and session materials tailored to mentee needs
- Organise and attend community or programme-related events to build rapport and reinforce engagementAdministration and Reporting

**Administration and Reporting**
- Complete session debriefs and summary reports (including cancellations) within required timeframes
- Maintain accurate records of all interactions, case notes, safeguarding concerns, and progress reports
- Contribute to ongoing evaluation, data collection, and reporting processes as required

**Family Support and Advocacy**
- Provide additional support to mentees' families where needed, including advocacy and representation
- Occasionally attend multi-agency meetings and represent the young person/family and/or organisation professionally
- Signpost young people (and families to appropriate services (supported by Project Coordinator) and engage in follow-ups where necessary

**Safeguarding and Risk Management**
- Proactively identify safeguarding concerns and write timely referrals to the organisation's Designated

Safeguarding Network (DSN)
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment in all interactions
- Maintain confidentiality, boundaries, and professionalism in all aspects of the role

**Training and Professional Development**
- Attend all mandatory CPD trainings, including EXODUS programme training, contextual safeguarding, and motivational interviewing
- Take part in regular coaching, reflective practice, and clinical supervision
- Commit to continuous professional development (CPD) and reflective learning

**Person Specification Essential**:

- Enhanced DBS check (required prior to start)
- Full UK Driver's License (required for Northamptonshire Based roles only)
- Lived or professional experience relating to adverse childhood experiences, youth violence, criminal exploitation, criminal justice systems or social exclusion
- Experience delivering 1:1 support or mentoring to children or young people
- Confident in engaging challenging or socially excluded young people
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk management
- Ability to manage caseloads, keep accurate records, and work independently
- Emotionally resilient and committed to empowering young people

**Desirable**:

- Experience facilitating group sessions or community workshops
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practice or therapeutic approaches
- Knowledge around Adverse Childhood Experiences, Knife Crime, Child Criminal Exploitation, County Lines, Child Exploitation or Similar
- Transferable Skills or Qualifications
