**Data Architect - Consulting In The Defence & Security Sectors**
**London Location With Agile Working - Travel to Client Sites Will Be Required**
**Base Salary £52,000 - £72,000 Plus Benefits Package**
Working as a key part of this successful Global Consultancy, the Data Architect will be working on exciting & innovative Data projects with major clients across the Defence & Security sectors.
The Data Architect role enjoys a range of responsibilities in designing data models and metadata systems and helping to interpret business needs. The Data Architect provides valuable oversight and advice to other team members who are undertaking the designof data models, together with working with other technical experts and architects to make sure that systems are designed in accordance with the appropriate data architecture.
Other responsibilities include the definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of medium scale projects (typically with direct business impact and firm deadlines) and providing overall control across the team or teams of technology relatedSMEs, to ensure the appropriate consistency of deliverables.
**The Role**:
**Data Modelling & Design**:

- Investigating enterprise data requirements where there is some complexity and ambiguity.
- Planning the data modelling and design activities, selecting appropriate techniques and the correct level of detail for meeting assigned objectives.
- Providing advice and guidance to others using the data structures and associated components.

**Systems Design**:

- Designing data system components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology.
- Identifying and evaluating alternative design options and trade-offs. Creating multiple design views to address the concerns of different stakeholders and to handle functional and non-functional requirements.
- Modelling, simulating or prototyping the behaviour of proposed system components to enable approval by stakeholders.
- Producing detailed design specifications to form the basis for the construction of systems. Reviewing, verifying and improving designs against specifications.

**Data Management**:

- Devising and implementing master data management processes for specific subsets of data.
- Assesses the integrity of data from multiple sources.
- Providing advice on the transformation of data from one format/medium to another.

**Methods and Tools**:

- Providing advice and guidance to support the adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards.
- Tailoring processes in line with standards and evaluation of methods/tools.

**Database Design**:

- Producing physical database designs to support transactional data requirements for performance and availability.
- Developing and maintaining specialist knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, design principles, architectures, software and facilities.
- Producing data warehouse designs that support demands for business intelligence and data analytics.

**Information Security**:

- Identifying risks that arise from potential technical solution architectures. Designing alternate solutions or countermeasures and ensuring they mitigate identified risks.

**Skills & Experience**:

- Proven experience in a Data Architecture or related role (ie. Data Engineer or Systems Architect).
- Ability to turn business problems into a data design.
- Able to create conceptual, logical and physical data models.
- In depth knowledge of SQL and relational database principles.
- In depth knowledge of at least one NoSQL database technology.
- Experience gathering and analysing system requirements.
- Able to select the most appropriate technology for different data types and to meet different user requirements.
- Understanding of the system development life cycle, project management approaches and requirements, design, and test techniques.
- Excellent communication skills: able to communicate at a conceptual, non-technical level and at an in-depth technical level.
- Understanding of data governance best practices.
- Understanding of data security principles.
