Your new role: Southend-on-Sea City Council has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated finance officer to join the Payments Team on a part time (**21 hours)** and permanent basis. The payment team work to ensure providers of both adult and children’s social care are paid in accordance with Southend City Councils terms. As a finance officer, you will accurately calculate and record care times in order to process payments to providers. You will need to be able to critically analyse data and liaise with others to validate and balance invoices in accordance with authorised contracted care. You will also identify, investigate and resolve inaccuracies liaising with social care providers and social care staff. You will respond to queries from care providers on invoice or account issues and also provide advice and guidance in relation to payment functions to care businesses, partners, external and internal stakeholders ensuring a high level of customer service. **Please note the working hours will be part-time, 21 hours across Wednesday - Friday (salary will be pro rata).** **Although this role is hybrid, it will predominantly be working from home with occasional visit to the office.** What you'll need to succeed: To be successful in this role, it is essential that you have good levels of numeracy and literacy as well as attention to detail. Experience of working in an accounting role is required, as well as possessing the ability to analyse financial data and have a good working knowledge of Excel. You need to have strong communication and interpersonal skills as you will be liaising with various stakeholders. You need to be able to work on your own as well as be part of a team. You must be able to manage your own workload.
