We have an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, highly skilled facilities and inventory management coordinator who will be responsible for ensuring the facilities and equipment is maintained to the highest level as well as taking part in fault-finding activitiesand equipment upgrades across our two main sites. In addition, a proportion of the role will be to manage and maintain key consumable stock inventory on site and work with the scientific operations and the procurement team to ensure a good supply chain ismaintained.

You will be able to demonstrate a high degree of judgement and initiative to resolve issues, take the lead in upgrading the facility where necessary & ensure cost control, quality, and completeness of work.

**Main tasks & responsibilities**:

- A skilled specialist in Facilities, independently executing and coordinating a wide range of complex activities internally and with external parties, demonstrating considerable judgement and initiative to resolve issues.
- Responsibility for maintaining the building including fixtures and fittings, plant, equipment and services in an efficient, safe manner whilst supporting laboratory and general operations.
- Inventory and stock control including goods receipt and distribution.
- To implement and perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to ensure a high standard of equipment maintenance.
- Contributes ideas for continuous improvement and provides solutions. Adopts process changes to improve efficiency within the facility.
- Interacting with internal stakeholders, service contractors and external engineers to minimise disruption caused by servicing and breakdowns.
- Ensuring on site contractors work safely, comply with H&S policies and checking that work is carried out to specification.
- Liaising with budget holders/departments to consider planned replacement of old equipment or changes in equipment numbers.
- Issuing guidelines to managers and staff where applicable and liaising with outside agencies to ensure that the facilities comply with current legislation, e.g. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act, The Workplace Health and Safety Regulations 1992 andother relevant legislation.
- To assist with internal moves and relocations as required.

**Role Specifications**

**Essential requirements**
- A strong track record in a similar role, preferably within a laboratory environment.
- NVQ / C&G level education in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services. (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above).
- Able to fault find confidently on a wide range of equipment both mechanical and electrical.
- Ability to implement and maintain stock control systems aligned with Charles River processes.
- Effective and efficient collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
- PAT testing and basic electrical inspections.
- Demonstrable track record of planning and implementing preventative and corrective maintenance procedures.
- Comfortable owning and delivering on projects.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A confident an analytical approach to problem solving.
- Organised and thorough with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- IT literate with experience of common packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel, etc.
- Some out of hours emergency cover will be required on a rota basis.

**Desirable requirements**
- Electrically qualified with the ability to design, fault find and remedy complex electrical installations.
- Ability to assess and design electrical or mechanical systems.
- Experience of Building Management Systems (CMMS).
