**Senior Infrastructure Engineer**

**Principal accountabilities**
- Support the agile way of working within the Platforms team (e.g. standups, planning sessions, retrospectives).
- Build strong working relationships with internal team members and external stakeholders.
- Support the more junior team members through mentoring, peer reviews and paired working.
- Keep abreast of the latest Infrastructure technologies, trends, tools and practices.
- Evaluate new technologies and help to introduce them into the Platforms team where appropriate.
- Support the migration of existing infrastructure to AWS, Azure and SAAS platforms.
- Create infrastructure from code for each of required environments (test, preprod, prod).
- Script all infrastructure configuration and ensure that all environments/stacks are templatized and organised into reusable components.
- Comply and contribute to the departmental as well as company standards and procedures.
- Help to improve Platform team processes.

**Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)**
- Consistently delivers work within estimated timescales to a high standard of quality.
- Deals with incidents in a calm and structured way to ensure a swift resolution.
- Ensure that all work produced is fully documented and supportable by fellow team members.
- Keeps up to date on the latest Infrastructure technologies and other related software within the platform space.
- Ensure that work is always prioritised correctly based on business value.
- Ensure that all infrastructure is designed, built and maintained in a secure way.
- Ensure that all work follows the defined Platform team processes and procedures.
- Ensure that all systems are maintained to an acceptable standard in line with their SLAs.

**Skills/Experience/Qualifications**

**Essential**
- Experience working to Agile practices (Scrum or Kanban)
- Experience working as an Infrastructure engineer at a senior level within an IT team.
- Experiencing building high availability distributed systems with horizontal scalability.
- Experience building infrastructure from code and config for high volume services.
- VMware VCentre and VMWare ESXi implementation and design.
- Programming experience in Powershell.
- Knowledge of configuration management software such as: Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or Ansible
- Windows system administration experience.
- Networking and Storage experience.
- Windows and Linux System Deployment to AWS or Azure.
- Active Directory administration and design.
- Experience of deploying and managing the Office365 suite within an enterprise scale company.
- Previous experience working at a senior level within an Infrastructure team.

**Desirable**
- Experience of working with Terraform.
- Application and infrastructure performance analysis and optimisation using profiling and debugging tools.
- Experience with Confluence and Jira.
- Experience of working with Git and other source control systems.
- Knowledge of Linux systems.
- Technical leadership experience of backend system design/implementation and systems integration.
- Knowledge of single sign on systems.
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Any AWS / Azure qualifications.
- Any Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) qualifications.
