Mentor

Job Purpose:
The post holder will be required to:
1. To support and mentor refugees and migrants in the city through the development processes identified through their Integrass assessment.

2. Signpost clients to relevant training and services within the Project

3. Provide support and encourage independent learning, promote long-term career independence and prepare learners for effective integration into the wider society.

4. Where appropriate liaise with the Employment Engagement Officer (EEO) to ensure the learner is on track in meeting the employer’s thresholds for entry into employment.

5. To act as a Key Worker with case management responsibility to co-ordinate and plan integration support to Migrants

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide advice and support to Migrant residents in Coventry to overcome barriers to integration and become economically active, referring them to appropriate services.

2. Deliver a quality service to build trust and a positive professional relationship with the client group, promoting an environment of open communication that is supportive during the process of learning.

3. Support the client in their journey of integration, to equip them with the knowledge, skills and behaviours required

4. Carry out regular progress reviews with clients to optimise the previous progress and structure objectives.

5. Engage with the clients to diagnose their needs and understand their challenges, career ambitions, strengths and development areas in order to produce and maintain effective development plans.

6. Actively engage with clients on a 1:1 basis using a variety of techniques.

7. Facilitate referrals for clients within the project’s available provisions and beyond.

8. Provide appropriate assessments and reports.

9. Ensure that client’s needs and any concerns regarding their health, safety and welfare are brought to the attention of a senior member of staff.

10. Maintain accurate files and records in accordance with policies and procedures using both manual and computerised systems.

11. Ensure that confidentiality of clients is maintained.

12. Respect each client by working in a manner, which promotes his/her individuality and ensures that the client has adequate information about available choices.

13. Actively support and encourage clients supporting the individual at all times.

Any other duties and responsibilities within the range of the salary grade.

The person appointed to this position will have the following skills and attributes:
1. Proven experience in project delivery

2. Excellent IT skills

3. Excellent written and presentational skills

4. Knowledge of issues affecting client group

5. Empathy and ability to communicate with a wide range of people

6. Ability to work in a methodical and organised way

7. Ability to keep good records and extract data from records for reporting purposes

8. Ability to line manage staff and allocate work appropriately

**Job Types**: Part-time, Full-time

**Salary**: £25,000.00 per year
