Head of Security Operations

OCS is proud to be leading the delivery of FM services for HMCTS and, since contract inception, performance and customer satisfaction have continued to improve. Across 350 sites throughout the UK, OCS is responsible for important customer-facing services which involves a workforce of over 1500 committed colleagues. It is a busy contract with many daily interactions and multiple hand-offs and interfaces with customers, partners and stakeholders and the general public.
As Head of Operations, you will lead the operational delivery of the contract and its range of security services. This will require clear and consistent managerial leadership, energy and enthusiasm to drive contract performance and improvement to the benefit of all interested parties.
You’ll be an experienced leader of people who will focus on driving continuous improvement through your leadership teams. You’ll also have a proven track record of delivering large scale, complex change projects. The role will require a constant focus on maintaining high standards within a demanding and fast paced environment.
The role is a national role, with regular travel and overnight stays, so please consider this when applying.
**What you’ll be doing**:
- Taking the lead role to manage the culture change programme across the senior leadership team, embedding the culture and leading on the programme with the operational teams.
- Managing and controlling staffing costs working with the finance teams to review and mitigate any overspend.
- Working closely with the quality and performance manager and governance manager to make sure all processes are imbedded to all site operations
- Working closely with the training manager to make sure all staff are trained to do their full role and that where necessary additional agency staff are trained to support site operations at times of staff shortage.
- Via your leadership team, making sure that the work schedules and shift times are correctly resourced, highlighting any gaps and working with the operations teams to mitigate any risk.
- Making sure team manage employee related matters effectively, professionally and within a timely manner, tracking cases through to completion with HR colleagues and highlighting any high-risk issues to the Director.
- Making sure the contractual KPIs are met each month, highlighting any risk to the Director, and implementing measure to mitigate risk and improve service delivery.
- Taking a lead role with the union engagement and managing of industrial relations issues holding regular monthly meetings at a regional level with union representatives to update them on contract operations and address any issues or queries.
- Delivering strategies to reduce labour turnover
- Making sure regular communication with colleagues is in place through team talks, briefing and toolbox talks
- Making sure that the HMCTS and OCS culture is reflected positively through staff appearance and behaviour and that dress code and personal standards are adhered to.
**What you’ll need**:
- An established and experienced leader of people who has managed large scale, complex change programmes in a fast paced and critical business operation.
- Extensive experience of managing multi-million-pound contract at a national level, ideally within manned guarding
- Experience of managing and directing large and disparate teams. Working to perform against specific targets in this case KPI or equivalent.
- Experience of union engagement and managing of industrial relations issues
- A Health and Safety qualification - NEBOSH/IOSH
