**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
**External Engagements**:

- Support the Managing Director and wider Secretariat in coordinating specific high profileengagements with senior leaders from the NHS, Government and Industry.
- Prepare executive briefings for relevant executive groups to structure senior external engagements.

**Delivering the Shelford Group Strategy**:

- Working closely with the Managing Director and Senior policy Fellow, the Fellow will lead on the setup and delivery of specific programmes of work to inform and influence national policy. These will be directed by the six Shelford Group strategic objectives and will typically align with the work of a specific executive sub group.
- In agreement with the Managing Director and Senior Policy Fellow, the Policy Fellow will develop in-depth expertise in 2-3 of the Group’s strategic themes of pandemic recovery, patient care (including digital transformation and Specialised Services), workforce, investment, life sciences and anchor collaborations, working closely with relevant groups of Shelford members to drive delivery of the group’s strategic objectives in these areas.

**Health and Life Sciences Policy**
In agreement with the Managing Director, the Fellow will work on key aspects of the Shelford Group agenda to engage with and inform national policy in health and life sciences. Responsibilities include:

- Coordinating responses to national policy consultations and Select Committee enquiries.
- Coordinating specific engagements with national leaders to support the initiation, development and implementation of national policy in priority areas.
- Producing expert policy briefings for executive leaders within the Shelford Group community.

**Stakeholder Relationships**:

- Develop strong relationships with executives across member organisations and with relevant leads within their Directorates, informed by specific project requirements.
- Establish an effective network of external relationships encompassing experts in other membership organisations, major health policy think tanks, government departments, NHS arms length bodies and Parliamentarians.
- Engage proactively with the wider NHS provider sector, recognising opportunities to adopt and learn from models of excellence outside of the Shelford Group and similarly to promote the adoption of best practice models developed by Shelford Group members across the wider NHS.
- Identify models of excellence from international health systems and engage with Shelford Group leaders concerning their adoption and diffusion.

**Policy Intelligence**:

- Provide an important source of real world intelligence concerning current affairs affecting health, life sciences and social care.
- Attend external events to maintain a current working knowledge in key policy areas, extensive external network and to contribute to the emerging dialogue in policy priorities for the Group.
- Contribute to developing the Shelford Group weekly policy briefing for members.

- Manage own administration and diary.
- Deputise as appropriate for the Managing Director and Senior Policy Fellow.
- Contribute to a positive team mindset with colleagues across the Shelford Group.
- Maintain close working relationship with colleagues in the hosting organisation, contributing positively to their team environment and community of talent.
