**Lead Careers Adviser Special Educational Needs**:
Careers Young Workpath is an innovative, coordinated approach that brings together the expertise of Tower Hamlets Careers Service with that of Workpath Employment and Brokerage team. We provide impartial careers information, advice and guidance and employability support to young people between the age of 13-19 years and up to 25 years with an EHCP. We work in schools, colleges, and community settings in a multi-cultural, diverse, and vibrant borough.

The Service is looking to recruit a Lead Careers Adviser Special Educational Needs to provide impartial careers information, advice and guidance to young people with SEND, SEN and those at risk of becoming NEET, NEET young people and their families. You will work in special and mainstream schools/colleges and advise, and guide SEND and SEN young people and their families/carers on the range of options and opportunities available to them and support young people to be prepared for future transitions into education, training, jobs, apprenticeships, and supported internships.

We are keen to recruit an experienced and fully qualified Careers Adviser who has worked in schools/college and has some experience working with SEND young people and their families.

You will be a skilled communicator and able to draw on your previous experience and knowledge and adapt your interview skills to meet the needs of individual young people. You will have the ability to develop strong networks and collaborate effectively with a range of professionals and organisations to support young people’s transitions. Knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and legislation pertaining to SEN young people is necessary.

You will work independently and plan and deliver your caseload across several schools/colleges and with NEET young people to meet Service objectives. You will work closely and jointly with the other Lead Careers Adviser Special Educational Needs, and a key part of your role will be to advise and support Generic Careers Advisers in their work with SEN pupils in mainstream schools/colleges. You will need to keep up to date on changes and developments within the SEN sector and brief and update team members.

The role requires you to hold the relevant careers professional qualification and you will be a registered member of the CDI and committed to ongoing learning and development. Enhanced DBS is essential.
