An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a senior experienced, dynamic, high performing midwife to join the senior midwifery management team as Matron for Maternity Services within the Community in Ipswich and surrounding areas.
Under the leadership of Deputy Head of Midwifery and Head of Midwifery you will hold an important professional role for the delivery of maternity services locally, providing strong and inspirational leadership to help influence and change the development of these services.
You will be expected to provide managerial, professional and clinical leadership to midwives and support staff working within the maternity service ensuring the professional contributions of these staff is maximised to achieve the Trusts objectives and strategic goals in accordance with user needs, and national and local professional standards.
You will need to work well within the multi-disciplinary team, influencing and leading others in practice and in the delivery of clinical outcomes.
In conjunction with the Deputy Head of Midwifery, you will facilitate and implement appropriate training and development programmes for midwives, nurses and support staff that enhance practice and care whilst meeting Trust objectives and Government initiatives.

- Support the Community midwifery service and the MLBU on the Ipswich site to promote excellence in maternity care and to maintain and improve clinical standards in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. You will also have leadership responsibilities for the Smoke Free team and the Infant Feeding team.
- Ensure that patient experience is of the highest quality, and that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect; will be aware of local demographics and devise and implement strategies to reduce health inequalities.
- Provide managerial, professional and clinical leadership to midwives and support staff working within maternity services, ensuring the professional contributions of these staff is maximised to achieve the Trusts objectives and strategic goals in accordance with service user needs, and local and national professional standards.
- Work in partnership with the Head of Midwifery, Inpatient Matrons, the Consultant midwife and the QI midwife across Ipswich and Colchester sites to develop safe, effective and evidence based practices.
