PE28 2EAAbout the job **Job summary**: As an important part of the Ministry of Defence, Defence Intelligence (DI) provides intelligence analysis, specialist outputs and advice that supports decision making across government. At the heart of DI is the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence (NCGI). Everything happens somewhere. NCGI produces intelligence that is referenced in time and space to help decision makers to understand, plan, navigate, and target. What we do is help decision makers to understand what is going on. We are the primary provider of geospatial intelligence advice and expertise, comprising imagery intelligence, geospatial analysis, geospatial services, foundation data, military mapping and, in partnership with the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) and the Meteorological Office, assured data for safety of navigation. We are a national capability, recognisably operating alongside other national intelligence agencies and is the primary interface between the UK and international geospatial intelligence partners. You may think you need to be an analyst or have an intelligence background to work for NCGI; this is not true. There is a wide range of exciting roles available. We have an Information Technology (IT) Security Adviser vacancy within our small, friendly security team at Wyton. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. **Job description**: The successful applicant will be responsible for assuring/overseeing the implementation of all CIS security on site. For larger systems you would act in a liaison capacity supporting a dedicated System or Network Security Officer. They will also deliver IT security advice to individuals or teams and advise/assist on investigations into IT security incidents and breaches in accordance with policy. The role also includes being the System Security Auditor and the responsibilities for this includes: - Analysing security event logs to identify trends and drive secure behaviours throughout the business. - Reviewing reports to ensure quality and accuracy. - Managing all security breaches, loopholes, vulnerabilities, and infringement uncovered during the auditing process, including identification, categorisation, reporting and escalation. - Collecting and analysing investigation case data in line with legal guidelines - Supporting the reporting processes and any subsequent investigations for security incidents following relevant policies and procedures. - Maintaining statistical evidence of all auditing event, compiling a monthly report for examination by the ITSO. - Creating, developing, and maintaining operational documentation and procedures. - Ensuring an archiving policy is in place for system security events and reporting of all issues with storage of archived events. - Assisting the ITSO with the timely dissemination of all system alerts. - Providing auditing evidence to the ITSO and other relevant staff in the event of a detection of viruses within the systems. - Analysing, monitoring, and communicating intelligence received from Joint Security Control Centre on the full range of security related threats to support implementation of effective mitigations. - Assisting with the construction of Risk Management Accreditation Document Sets. - Delivering Security Education briefings.
