The East Riding of Yorkshire have formed an ambitious and forward thinking contextual safeguarding service - **‘Making the Change’**. This service aims to work with children and young people (and their networks) who are at risk of or likely to be at risk of exploitation within a multi-agency forum. This newly created permanent CISRO post has been created as part of our commitment to children, young people and their networks to provide a mandatory offer to bring families together to enable and empower them to formulate their own person centred plans through a relational based approach where there is a contextual safeguarding concern. The overarching aim of the post is to create sustainable planning with the child and/or young persons and their network to meet their identified needs; the offer is based upon the fundamental principles of the family group conferencing model with the inclusion of those professionals involved with the family.

It is proposed that the postholder will facilitate person centred meetings with the family network and professional network using the family group conference model, as well as create and review formulated plans to determine the impact of the proposed intervention on the child’s and/or young person’s lived experience. The postholder will also be central to developing the exploitative service across the East Riding of Yorkshire and play a critical part in leading change in relation to service delivery.

We have created a bespoke practice model that reflects and connects our vision, our value base and our behaviour as one East Riding of Yorkshire approach to working with children, young people and their families, which is nurtured and grown from within East Riding of Yorkshire CYPSSS and owned by our workforce.

We remain committed to Signs of Safety as a practice framework, but this will be set within a much wider, values based, model of practice that clearly connects Signs of Safety much more clearly with the East Riding value base, and our overall approach to making and sustaining relationships with children, families and communities.

Without a well embedded model, there is nothing to centre our practice on to ensure that, while the work may be different, all our teams are grounded in the same values, beliefs, theories and approaches. Having a well-developed practice model helps to create a common language for the service and enables everyone to understand how we go about doing the right things, in the right way and for the right reasons for children and their families.

We are looking for an energetic, creative and courageous experienced social work practitioner who can demonstrate tenacity and enthusiasm in making a positive difference to the lives of children, young people and their networks and support and challenge the professional network, if required in the nest interests of the child and/or young person.

We are looking for an experienced social work practitioner, who is able to work effectively with others with a flexible and adaptable approach in a relational based way - always demonstrating their commitment to working to the highest possible standards, whilst remaining at all times child centred.

You will have an in depth understanding and experience of working with children, young people and their networks and the experiences of working within a children’s social care setting, as well as some knowledge of family group conferencing ensuring a commitment to the values of family involvement, relational approaches and empowerment underpinning them.

Your experience of direct work with children and their families, will bring skill and creativity to working with our children and young people, to ensure their views and wishes are central to the work. You will need to have developed a high level of interpersonal skills and the capacity to reassure and engage parents and other family and professionals to formulating and implementing safe and sustainable plans.

You will have the ability to work with a wide range of professionals and be able to demonstrate a commitment to working within a multi-agency forum through a high supportive and high challenging way.

You will have excellent written and oral communication skills will enable you to prepare clear and coherent reports on work undertaken and present to both professional and non-professional audiences.

You will be able to demonstrate a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently, with skills in working with several children, young people and their networks within timescales and with conflicting priorities.
