Newham’s Youth Justice aims to prevent crime, and the fear of crime, by ensuring that services are available to support children and young people in the criminal justice system whilst ensuring the needs of victims and our communities are taken into account and that we look to tackle disproportionality wherever we find it.
**ABOUT THE JOB**
Newham Youth Justice Service aims to put those who have been harmed at the centre of our work in preventing crime, and the fear of crime, through our engagement of children at risk of offending along with their families. We are working to ensure that those who have been harmed in our community are supported in all that we do. We are therefore seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and dynamic Restorative Approaches Practitioner to ensure the voice of those harmed is heard.
Restorative Justice brings the Youth Justice Service, Metropolitan Police and Probation to work together to provide improved services to victims of crime. Newham Youth Justice Service aims to put victims of crime at the centre of our work in preventing crime, and the fear of crime, through our engagement of victims, children at risk of offending and their families. The Restorative Approaches practitioner will ensure that victims of crime in our community are supported in all that we do.
**ABOUT YOU**
As a Restorative Approaches Practitioner, you will contribute to the provision of effective and high quality multi-agency Youth Justice Service, in ensuring that the voice of those harmed is heard in all that we do, and that all YJS interventions with children and their families include restorative justice activity. You will establish and maintain effective multi-agency links with key partner agencies to support victims of crime in Newham.

The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the Theatre Royal Stratford East offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.- Newham has a large housing regeneration programme that will build over 1,000 new council homes by 2022._
