A Japanese multicultural trading house is currently recruiting a Senior Economic & Political Analyst at their office in the City of London or Brussels.

In this role you will be responsible for supporting senior management and Business Units analysing economic and political situations which could affect Business activities within Europe-CIS region and providing relevant information in accordance with theirneeds.

**TYPE**: Permanent, full-time

**WORKING HOURS**: 9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday

**SALARY**: £71-90K depending on experience, plus good benefits

**START**: ASAP

**LOCATION**: London or Brussels (Currently they take a Hybrid work style with 2 days at the office.)

**RESPONSIBILITY**:

- Monitor and Analyse the economic and political situation and foreign affairs within Europe-CIS region
- Share intelligence regarding geopolitical, economic and political situation, as well as country risk within Europe-CIS region with senior management and Business Units to facilitate them to understand what is happening in Europe-CIS region
- Develop and coordinate information network with external entities such as think-tanks, Universities, governmental institutions and embassies within Europe-CIS region to facilitate business activities
- Attend external seminars or symposiums across the region to collect information and develop an information network
- Visit countries throughout the Europe-CIS region to collect information and extend the company’s information gathering network
- Manage and help to develop the potential of members of staff of the Department in Brussels (and possibly London)
- Support the development of other business intelligence functions in the EMEA & CIS region
- Collaborate with SCGR and relevant departments of Tokyo HQ

**Qualifications**:

- Preferred: Master’s Degree or above, specifically in Economics or International Relations

**Skills**:

- An excellent level of economic, political, international relations and business analytical skills
- Excellent networking skills
- Oral and written fluency in English plus fluency in another European language e.g. French or German
- Regional specialisation in economics and/or international relations, to some extent involving the EU
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent written presentation skills
- Logical and critical thinking skills
- Budgeting and/or cost control experience

**EXPERIENCE**:

- Experience in working at a senior level in a think tank, university or research department, such as in a global industrial or financial institution
- Experience in writing analytical research reports
- Experience managing a team
- Experience in supervising and conducting region-specific study (preferred)
