**JOB DESCRIPTION -** **Support Worker**
- To be a member of the team and contribute as much as possible to the happy atmosphere of the home and well being of the residents
- To bear in mind at all times that Broadlands is the residents home and to try to the best of your ability to make it so
- Inform colleagues of relevant developments for example, during handover, ensuring handover book and all records are up to date at the end of the shift
- Be responsible for the security of the building at night making sure all passage and security lights are on and fire doors are shut
- Be alert to Health & Safety requirements, maintain Fire warden training
- Maintain first aid certification
- Supervise supper staff and weekend staff.
- Answering door and room bells at all times of the day or night and dealing with anything that may arise
- Reporting to the Manager any breakages or areas in need of repair
- Hold a basic food hygiene certificate. Prepare and serve supper in accordance with knowledge gained and in the absence of a supper cook.
- Afternoon entertainments with residents
- Washing drying and ironing of napery including curtains and bed linen when necessary
- Changing towels and bed linen when necessary
- General cleaning, corridors, office, windows, doors, washing down paintwork, residents rooms and bathrooms in the absence of domestic staff
- Shifts to be worked to cover holiday and sickness when required
- To attend staff meetings and training when requested by the Manager
- To assist wherever and whenever necessary at special event; open days, Christmas party etc
- Issuing items from locked stores and recording them
